Goggle question

Ok i'm sure i'm going to get railed on for asking this but before you burn me on the stake know that i'm 18 and have been skiing my whole life. I'm not nubile or anything. My question is this: whats the deal with the whole new park skiing trend of wearing your goggles so the strap goes inside your helmet and around your head instead of staying on the outside. I haven't been able to come up with any practical reason on why people do this other than all the pros do it and most skiers in general are trendwhores.

if you wear a hat (much warmer than the built in ear pads) under your helmet, you most likely will want to take out the then useless ear covers, they just make it uncomfortable. It doesn't really work to go goggles over the helmet without the ear covers.

i will admit it looks a lot cooler.   but seriously it cannot be more comfortable than a helmet, and its completely impractical. if you need to take off your goggles for something while youre on the hill youre screwed

because if your strap isn't very long the goggs are super tight and crush your face. (thats my reason for doing it)

i dont wear a helmet yet..(cant afford one) but i feel like it would be really annoying because i like to ski without my goggles on alottttt and then i would not be able to wear 'em up

I've looked long and hard for helmets that fit my head so I could wear the beanie and strap underneath. Unfortunately, none have been big enough or fit my head correctly, therefore I wear the strap over my helmet.

I think it looks better, plus hats are warm... and to everyone that says you can't put your gogs up, you just push up your gogs and the helmet... it really isn't too difficult

its nice when you wanna pop your lid off here and there, and keep yourself from getting blinded. But mostly it just looks better with skate style lids. My gogs have crazy short straps, so i really have no other option at the moment.

Bullshit you cant afford it. You have a nice dakine backpack, icons, on3p, and you cant afford a helmet.... i dont wear a helmet sometimes because i find it steezier not to and defiantly more comfortable. Although i did start wearing a helmet in the final weeks after i randomly caught an edge.

I like my strap on the outside. No reason for me to wear a beanie as my Bern Watts (EPS Foam btw) has pretty warm earflaps. Plus, I like a tight seal around my face. I don't want any goggles bouncing about my face every time I land a jump a little hard.

My preference.

I only read the first few posts so im not sure if it has been mentioned but if you dont ski with your helmet on all the time and ur just crusing the mountain you can just put the goggles over your hat and then when you go into the park all you have to do is put the helmet onto your head instead of messing putting them on over ur helmet.  Just kinda easer and more convinient

Soooo muchmore comfortable plus a lot easier to mess around with your helmet or goggles. I can take my goggles off to clean them without ven taking off my helmet. Just slip the helmet back so it's hanging like a sombrero on your back and presto.

it looks better and fits nicer on my face...that is why I do it. plus you are less likely to stretch the goggle strap to the point where is might begin to tear where it meets the goggle and if you have a nasty fall you wont land on any part of the strap also risking it breaking

My poc helmet doesnt even have a goggle strap on the back so i couldnt even wear my goggles on the outside if i wanted.

when i push up my helmet and goggles if i want to take them off of my face, they get all fogged up from being on my forehead. and putting them under looks cooler because its a more "seamless" look. not so broken up
