Healthcare question

yo so im all for heathcare, but say i had some sort of cancer that cost a million dollars to treat.

Instead of getting the million dollar procedure,  could i ask the government to buy me a bugatti veyron instead?

Like think about it. It shouldnt make any difference. I could bomb around in my Veyron for a few years before the cancer got me.

Because in the law it states, essentially, that the taxes that are used to pay for the bill are going to be used for HEALTHCARE.... not super cars.

Because, and here is the flaw in your argument, the gov't isn't sending the money to YOU to use for healthcare. They will work like the insurance companies work right now or Medicaid, you get your treatment done and the insurance company/Medicaid pays for your treatments and you don't see the money change hands or even handle it yourself.

Just so you know, the insurance mandate was originally a republican idea that was part of their alternative to a single-payer system. The problem is that when you block insurance companies from using pre-existing conditions as an excuse to not insure you, people will wait till they get sick to buy insurance. The way around that is to mandate that people buy insurance.

Now all the right-wingers are pissed and all they want is for the damn liberals to leave their righteous corporations alone. Instead the liberals decided since they couldn't get a single-payer system that would actually work, they would just force everyone to use the free market and here we are...

im just talking on the concrete specifics of the way our government functions.

im not even going to bring up why mob rule of 51% has the potential to be horrible. arguably a great deal of the idea of the constitution is keeping the majority in check. IE making sure the majority doesnt abuse the minority.
