This pattern (the upcoming two storms only--not the extended outlook) looks very similar to November to me. Whistler and the Cascades will get a shit load of snow (relative) and the inland Northwest Rockies will get a paltry 3-6" or so. We'll take what we can get though. We need it desperately.

As do my new 'Bents. The pattern for El NiÃ±os within the record-keeping period for Spokane has been either a good or horrible early season and often a pretty good late season. The long-term is looking slightly better for one of these scenarios, but I'm not holding my breath.

At least we're still open. Albeit barely holding on. The liftline at Stella at Schweitzer literally is a dirt/grass/rock patch. Several of their south-facing runs are looking almost like they did in 2004-05. It barely got below freezing on-mountain during the past week, even at night. We're at about 60% of normal snowpack too, which won't bode well for this summer's runoff either. Hopefully this week will bring a healthy refresh to the snowpack. Though it won't bring a substantial increase in snow water equivalent, it will at least bring some variety in conditions to our local resorts for those who don't like slush/corn.

So true... I've just never seen rocks literally in the liftline. Not even 04-05. Word from operations crews is that there's barely a foot down there in some places--and even less in others.

But yeah this week should freshen up the snowpack at least a little bit.

What are you smoking, it has been an epic snow year out. We set the record for most snow ever in November with over 3 metres, and then had amazing powder days over the Olympics with no lift lines.

why would you come to the interior for powder right now? we haven't had a pow day or any significant snowfall in... geez, a month now? we got a bit today, but in bounds is tracked, across the interior, and the backcountry has a crust layer on every aspect with a sketchy snowpack to boot.
