What type of off-season weight training do the pros do?

I have been researching new ideas for my workouts and started to wonder how the pros must train.   Do you they train in crossfit, standard weights or plyrometric workouts?   There cardo has to be pretty intense too.  

Im also interested in hearing about everyone elses training activities.

I like to minimize my McDonalds intake to only twice a summer, and with that triple my BK intake. Because BK sets the tone with the Dub Whopper.

I don't lift weights, it hurts my muscles.

they coach at summer camps and get plastered at night...and then go ski in the southern hemisphere.

As a trainer, I would recommend crossfit stuff (crossfit as I understand it anyway) as explosive heavy lifting immediately immersed with anarobic activity. Any workouts that require high amounts of muscle groups at once or in succession. Check out www.crossfit.com (http://www.crossfit.com/cf-info/excercise.html#Girls) or www.gymjones.com for inspiration. PLEASE make sure you do that shit correctly. This is all assuming you dont necessarily have access to deep pow and giant kickers whenever you want...

Right on, thanks man for the advice.   I'll def go check out the crossfit stuff.   I've read some stuff about it but wasnt convinced about it.   Its looks like a very interesting tough program.  

I wish I had access to deep pow and giant kickers but i live in MI near Detroit.   All i see is small man made hills that ride like shit.

most pros now donthave an "offseason". after the comp series is done they usually do all the big superparks and film shoots. then they make it up to hood or whister to coach or ride. then they all go down to NZ or somewhere in the southern hemisphere. then its october again and there back in summit or somewhere else.

lift legs, do core workouts, cardio, and a lot of stretching. your core and legs are the most important areas to improve on for skiing.

CF is definitely a good place to start. I would say that depending on the person, there might not be enough direct strength work. Many people would benefit from 6-8 weeks of pure strength work with some short conditioning stuff before doing full blown CF.

Of course the best exercise you can do to improve your skiing is ski more, it's a skill based sport thus requires sport specific preparation.

I think a lot of pro's do the shot glass curls for their main source of training.

I saw some video with Ian Mckay (sp?) where he said he doesn't really work out his upper body at all beyond stretching, so he doesn't get bulky, but he lifts massive amounts of weight with his legs and does leg presses all day to help him stomp ridiculous landings.
