Concussion issues

So I got T-boned two weeks back on my way to school and got a concussion. Ive missed out on 6 comps since then including gatorade tour so my season is pretty much shot.

Whats on the line right now is my High School Slalom team. Yeah I know its racing, but Ive raced for years now and still enjoy it. I made it to state last year and was hoping to make it again since its my senior year. Sections is next Tuesday and is my last chance to make it to state.

I wasn't very truthful about my symptoms when I went to the doctor on Wednesday. I'm still having headaches, nausea, lightheaded, and its been over 2 weeks since the accident, so shit is not good at all. The Doctor said I could go back to Skiing as long as I could exercise without any symptoms. Well needless to say last night at practice I would finish one run and have my head throbbing and it would be almost gone by the top of the chairlift. The hill we practice at is 250 vertical feet, and sections is about 750 so needless to say the last half of the run will be pretty brutal on me.

So I have two options, not tell my dad, who is head coach, about it, race, hopefully make state, and not fuck myself over. Or Drop out of the race, try to get healthy for rugby season, and let my friend who is pissed he didn't make varsity race.

Sparknotes: Really bad concussion,risk it and compete, or let my friend who really wants it take my spot.

if you hit your head while you're still having post-concussion symptoms you will fuck yourself right up...

there is a reason there are strict regulations about returning to sports after a concussion.

unlike your body, your brain does not regenerate its cells when it gets damaged.... so don't fuck with it.

No question about it, stop skiing for a while, it isn't worth it. Another hit to your head and you could be out for much longer and do serious damage.

Yeah, dude seriously you do not want to mess with that stuff. Best thing you can do is go back to your doctor tell him symptoms came back and consult him

Dont mess with concussions, trust me. I dont mean to scare you cause you probably have't done any long term damage

if your going to ski take it easy, im in the process of getting certified as an emergency medical technician (not to sound cocky), ive been around hospitals and its not worth messing yourself up for the rest of your life just for a ski race.

I started skiing about 2 weeks after my last concussion with all the same symptons you just listed. I was only shooting photos though, and I didn't actually ski till about 5 weeks after the concussion, once all of my symptoms besides the headache's had stopped.

I've you've still got symptoms, don't ski.

ya man just dont ski, from my worst concussion i lost almost a years worth of memory and im still affected by it today, my best advice, get a mouthgard
