If you could invent something, what would it be?

For a school project, I have to design and create a working prototype of a new product to be brought to the market, and my professor said that all the answers come from problems. So in order to get some ideas, I thought I'd ask the NS community about some skiing related (or other) issues/inconveniences you guys might have that could be fixed by some new invention.

Any input would be fantastic, and if your idea is feasible I would definitely bring it to my group and make it. Thanks so much guys, I'm stoked to hear some ideas.

Note: Due to time/equipment restrictions, only mostly mechanical products can be made.

What about something that lets you know where your cellphone is when it's on vibrate. Like similar to a pager button on a cordless home phone. I hate looking for my phone when it's on vibrate.

How about something useful?

A cheap ski that's made for urbans. We're talking like a basic base, a basic top, and like a really cheap inner material. Like maybe a type of metal, instead of wood. And no edges. Imagine being able to buy a dream urban ski for 50 bucks.

I like the skate & xbox idea cause I suck at it. But -30 on tiger with my wii get boring but i love golfing, and my best is 83. But good luck with breaking 100 golf is fuckng hard.

I wanna invent a way to have something derectly from the city to the ski hill, super fast and easy.

More like a re-invent but a symmetrical surfboard. It would be the invader of surfboards I guess. It would either need a very dull point on both ends or some type of broad curve that still allows it to bite the wave.  A normal pointed nose shape on both ends doesn't seem ideal. Symmetrical rocker, but not too much and it would need to be gradual. It seems like too much rocker would make it way too loose. Fins wouldn't work, not on the back anyway. Central fins or several channels to well, channel water through and keep it on course would be put into place. The fin would need to be symmetrical too. I have no clue where the leash would go.

I know people do reverts and stuff in waves, but this could improve on it.  Also, a board with a lot of rocker would behave loosely and kinda like a skateboard in the sense that you could nearly ollie with it. I guess two models, one with a lot of rocker and another the opposite, would be made.

Why I think it won't work: Wikipedia says surfing has been around since 1767, so I'm probably not the first one to think of this. That means it may have been tried and failed or labeled as non-beneficial no matter how the board is made. Then again, skiing's been around for a while and symmetrical only caught on a few years ago...

a re-do button. Push the button and you automatically go 30 seconds back in time. So you can huck your self al day skiing, and if you ever get hurt, just push the button and your injury free :)

Aight turnign smoke into coal would be an ok thing if we could capture all the smoke coal produces
if not ur just destroying skiing forever.

Im saying a ski that has brass inserts in the ski where the bindings go so you can just screw your bindings in an avoid having to drop 30 bucks every time u need your skis mounted.  Just have eight holes or if you want to get fancy do 12 then you can have your binding centered or back.  I know this took alot of thought and it should be the future of skiing never thought of before.

no actually my invention is the inserts, i just don't get how snowboards have had this for over a decade and ski companies still refuse to do it.
