Skiing vs. Snowboarding vs. Telemarketing

For my English Class I have to write a pursuassive essay. My topic is to persuade a person who is just getting into winter sports which of the 3 they should do. I have to do it on factual and reliable information. So i am doing it on which one is easier, safer, and more fun. I am trying  to stick closer to safer because it has more actual facts. If you guys have pros or cons of any of the topics thatd be sick if you lied them below.

sounds like you are gonna have to pick a side otherwise its gonna be an endless debate about skiing v snowboarding. people get hurt doing both.  id leave telemarketing out of the conversation though.

Honestly I think skiing is safer than snowboarding because of the way your stance is. With skiing you are more likely to fall on your hip or your ass, its pretty hard to face plant. When I snowboarded for a while it felt like every time I fell I got the wind knocked out of me or fucked up somehow. Plus snowboarders are always breaking their wrists, I saw some chick do it like 2 days ago, she wasn't even going fast, just slammed and boom! broken wrist.

tele skiing and snowboarding are freestyle sports, alpine skiing is not.

newschool skiing is a push for freestyle, but nothing has changed since the 70s.

Teleing is hands down the winner in this fight, so it seems silly that you would choose alpine skiing. oh well. i dont have any arguments for that, other than 'its almost as cool to alpine as it is to tele'

i prefer skiing but i only tried snowboarding a couple times and i didnt like it. you would have to talk to someone who is good at both. but for me its skiing you have way more freedom and freestyle skiing is becoming the biggest thing around at my MT all the snowboarders want to switch or at least try skiing

Telemarketing is damn dangerous.
The Slap Chop guy got his tongue bitten by a prostitute.
And in this one the Chef Tony takes some gnarly risks playing with those knives.



So I'd say either skiing or snowboarding would be safer to learn and it takes less skills because those guys are professional and you don't need to be one to do both

Id say that more telemarketers die than skiers. Think about it, doing that day in day out i'd lift my head up high and blow my brains out!!!

but snowboarders rarely, if ever, risk tearing ligaments in their knees

wrists do get broken but if you use more of your body and not just stick your arms out like gaper then you would be ok

i think skiing is more dangerous

Snowboarding is safer as far as leg injuries go, for both of your legs are on the same board, meaning it is tougher to twist them. But snowbording makes you more prone to arm injuries.

Alright. Since noone here is giving you a legit answer, let me give it a shot.

1. Snowboarding: Safest on the knees, that's about it. When it comes to backcountry, I would not choose to snowboard. If caught in an avalanche your board will suck you down and pin you if you buried.

When it comes to snowboarding in the park, I find there is a lot less variety of tricks because switch is no big deal on a board and you can't do crosses.
When it comes to powder, boards have nice floatation and can be freaking awesome. When it comes to moguls... (face-palm). Boarders can do steeps, it's not as easy though so you don't see as many around steep bowls and shoots unless there is powder.

2. Telemarking: Safer on the knees than skiing but you might get a ski in your face when you fall. Just like a snowboard, telemark skis will drag you down and pin you in an avalanche. If you fall on the slope, well, you have over a 40% chance of getting tangled up and looking stupid trying to get back up. The bright side about backcountry with these is you don't need backcountry boots or bindings, just get your skins, transceiver, shovel and probe.

I admire telemarkers because they choose the hardest of them all. When you make your turn, bringing one leg down puts a lot of strain on the thigh and it takes a lot of strength to do it all day with skill. When it comes to jumps and bumps, telemarking isn't so great. The skis hang down in mid air with no heel piece and they are hard to maneuver in tight bumps. Telemarking isn't for speed but you can cruise along steeps and groomers with good speed.

3. Skiing: Worst for knee injuries. In the backcountry, these are the most costly set up but the safest in case of an avalanche.

As we all know, there is a lot of diversity in skiing, given the right setup, you can ski almost any terrain. Skiers can handle bumps with prestige; the excel in steeps with a wide stance and hop turns; lot's of different tricks in park and pipe; you can go super fast and in control; you can cruise through powder; etc.

When it comes to which is the best. I opt for skiing.
