and i mean this in the hippie saving the environment kinda way, since those homeless people take recyclables from peoples trash that otherwise woulda been burned and bring it to a recycling plant so they can get a few bucks and eat, like trees which take carbon dioxide and turn it into oxygen so they can survive.

that is all.

mm good reasonable enough thought (if youre blazed) but i dont think the average tree is as sick and has as short a life span as bums. also trees arent probably mad depressed

There are TONS of homeless people that walk around burlington with shopping carts and garbage bags taking all the returnable things from people's trash. It makes sense, though, being in a college town with mass amounts of beer cans, liquor and wine bottles.

yup i leave my recycling bins outside my apt. door and they always come and take the returnables, never have to take it out to the street either. clean up too

Back when i was younger I would always play basketball in my driveway after schol and there were always two homeless guys who would come talk to me about the benfits of recycling.

they dont usually go through your garbage they just empty your bins im sure some go through garbage but i rarely see our local bag lady digging through the trash cans

People have been making bank on the phish tour, cleaning up shakedown.

At the albany show I was pretty messed up before I went in. I helped a homeless dude pick up bottles and cans. He had a fun shopping cart with full bags hanging off it everywhere. Lots of other people cashing on those things too.

You do realize that all the trash gets sorted at the main facility into to groups, recyclable and non recyclable right?

Homeless people in this case are just wasting time because machines already do it.

Well the only bottles and cans I've seen homeless people pick up are the ones that can be returned for money. The 5 and 10 cents adds up if you live on the streets.

^retarded. Homeless people are just recycling because they want to save the environment.

They recycle because that 5 cents makes a big difference. If your on the street, A shopping cart full of cans can make the difference between eating and not.

I don't really see what funny about that situation.

I like that they do this. They deserve the extra dollars for taking care of things that most of us care so little about.

In college when ever anyone would have parties, everyone would just throw all the cans into the front yard. By morning the yard would be perfect. It was pretty amazing and the homeless people were usually really thankful about it. They would also stay away till the party was over to keep from scaring anyone away.

A lot of them are mad cool. If your ever in the city it's fun to stop and talk to them. Shoot the shit a little bit. They love having someone to talk to. Just getting treating like a normal human is better than they get sometimes. I try to drop them some spare change if I have it or by someone a meal if I see them at KFC or something.

I mean Im not rich, but 5 bucks to me doesn't do much. 5 bucks to them is a huge deal.They could get a lot more out of that than I would

haha yeah this one homeless guys comes into my work at a convenient store like every day and loves to just talk to who evers at the register. It doesnt even matter if you can barely understand him sometimes its the conversation that counts. its sad though cus besides a few hospitol trips or maybe jail he will probably be hanging around that convenient store allot longer then me.

for the record, im kinda just burnt, havent smoked in a long time but used to blaze daily. i was at work (nyc) and just had an epic realization of how useful they are.

and now that i think back, i too would leave mad cans bottles outside of my college house cuz the local homeless guy would take them and thank me, as i would thank him, such a good system.

Do you even live in a city? Denver has a huge homeless problem and by problem I mean it is not good and fucking sucks. The huge misconception about homeless people is that they are normal well adjusted people who are just on hard times. No, they are either crack heads or have serious mental problem, bi-polar, schizophrenia, aggression.

So no they are not "chill" or "cool to talk to", they are not an amusement park, they are sick people. If you give them money you are supporting their addiction and sickness. Sure you can treat them with respect but as soon as you give them money you are basically saying "you are a lesser human and all you deserve is my left overs." If you want to help homeless people donate food to a homeless shelter. Never give them money for just asking for it.

This bar by my house was infested with homeless people in the back parking lot. Literally smoking crack and sleeping in the state owned parking lot. One night the owner went out there to tell them to leave. They jumped him and put his bottom teeth through the top of his jaw. His name his Colin he owns "the lobby" at 21st and Arapahoe if you want to talk to him. The reason the homeless guys lived there is because people in that building would give them money every day, they would use it to buy crack.

I live in 5 points and trust me the more you hang out around homeless people the more you fucking hate them. You would never buy crack would you? That is what you are doing if you give them change. I am not a heartless bastard, I see homeless as a failure of society.

Spark Notes: Don't give homeless people money. Give them canned food if anything.

Have you seen the guy that walks up and down church street with a modified grocery cart, with like bells and pin wheels? He charges $5 to take a picture with it. He's crazy.

Not all homeless people smoke crack. AS for you hating me who cares, i figured as much already asshole.

I'ts not like I give them 100 bucks or something. And most of the time I actually buy them something to eat, but of course they prolly see the food after I leave and buy crack with it.

I didn't say homeless people were all 100% normal. But damn if your living on the side of the street with nothing and noone it sure is nice when somebody talks to you for a little while.

Im not "amused by them"
