I was just wondering if it would benefit my skis bases if I waxed them, scraped off some of the wax (but not all of it), then re-iron the remaining wax, possibly to soak in more wax. I really have no idea, so what are your ideas on it NS?
One purpose of waxing is to clean your bases, impurities rise to the surface and then are scraped off after a good hot wax. However, that is usually for race skis, so if this is for rail or park skis, I personally have done it many times and it saves me wax...I'll be there will be a few who say don't do it though.
i wax my race skis 2 or 3 times for every time i ski them. If i'm doing 3 i do one wax with ok wax and scrape that quick to clean it, then another time with ok wax, but let it sit for a while, then scrape it. And finally put on my real nice wax and let that set then scrape.
