Question about the ar6

most park skis have fiber strings underneath the base connecting the two edges these days but just makin sure....does the ar6 have them too?  on armadas web site what they said made it sound like the way they made the edges made them less resistant to grinding from rocks and rails so they would last longer, but it didnt really say anything about the fiber strings to keep the edges from separating from the base.

also, will the unsymmetrical shape really make a big difference when grinding rails?
(i have 08 volkl walls now)

I don't know if you're talking about edge armour or just the regular edge hold, but only Salomon does edge armour. But, the edges of the AR6s hold extremely well and are very durable. I went from Walls to AR6s too and you really don't notice that they aren't symmetrical (especially if you center mount them). I'd go for it, such a fun and durable ski (one of the most durable skis on the market).

ooo i didn't know salomon was the only company that does edge armor.  yeah, like back in my racing days i would grind with my racing skis cause i didnt know any better.  then my edges started detaching from the base and someone from a ski shop told me that twin tips have armor that protect against that...thats wut i was talkin about. 

but yeah after last year the edges on my walls are soo beat. i mean, i love em but for my next ski i want something that will actually maintain an edge half decently so when im not in the park i don't have to hold back on carving.  especially cause i live in the east and the snow is pretty hard most of the time.

thanks for the feedback, ill have to consider havin a center mount

the salomon edge armor that they had on their skis last year was not that good. it ended up causing a lot more problems than it helped.

Ive been on this years ar6 since the end of last season and I have to say they are holding up exceptionally well. After many, many, days of hard rail use I still do not have one edge crack. However, it should be noted that with any park skis after a season of skiing rails hard your edges will crack and begin to pull out. It just happens.

I would mount them true center or -2 from center. As for maintaining your edges so you can still carve that is really up to you; sharpen them often, just make sure to leave underfoot detuned
