Ah, ahem.. Let me attempt to explain and redeem somewhat if any integrity I may have left.
Bringing up the topic of homosexuality and homophobism may have seem random to some, or unjustified. But need I remind the reason why Carrie Prejean was on Larry King Live?
During her pageant, she responded to the question of "Do you think Gay Marriage should be legalized?" (basically) saying "I think it's great that Americans can choose one way or the other...we live in a land where one can marry the same or opposite sex...but I personally believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman, no offense to anyone out there but that's how I was raised."
Her answer was beautiful for the reason that she was honest. In no way was her answer offensive. They asked her a simple question, an opinion question, but one that many people felt had only one right answer. The fact that people feel it is ridiculous for someone to not support gay marriage is ridiculous to me and just feeds the fire of the same liberal equality bullshit I see every day of my life. Oh, and by the way, Obama gave the exact same answer when asked about gay marriage during 'the debate'.
Marriage is defined by the church, and only the church, and there is a clear and distinct separation of church and state. To actually believe that the government is allowed to alter any church law is ridiculous to me. I may be confused in this, as I personally could not care less about whether gays can marry or not (it just doesn't affect my person), but what I do know is this.
The entire system of marriage is fucked up. Marriage is a christian thing (right?), yet Jews marry? Atheists marry? The state should not be allowed to give marriage licenses in my book, only 'civil unions'. Marriage should be defined by the church, and as a non-binding contract (due to separation of C&S). More of an afterthought for those that want to keep up with the christian tradition.
"Wasn't that shit punishable by death a few years ago?"
I am bringing light to the fact that only in recent years has it been socially acceptable (at least in most Western countries) to be gay, and that previous to this it was entirely illegal and even in some places today it is punishable by death to be gay.
I do not support this in any way, as I feel that all men are created equal and have the right to do whatever it is they want to with their own body. Yet people feel the need to change the world's views overnight and ostracize anyone who feels differently.
The reason for my rant (nobody, including myself, would use this term if it weren't for Peter Griffin) is that we are constantly force fed this liberal bullshit about equality and all of that nonsense without seeing the actual truth behind it. You don't have to support gays, just as you don't have to support blacks or jews or women or redheads. I happen to support all of these except the latter. But if someone doesn't, I respect their decision and hope their attitudes change in the future.
Someone isn't wrong to not support gays. Walk a mile in their moccasins first, as you may not know the full story.
uhmmmm... Vote Ron Paul?
