It would be cool, but serialy unless you have to have it for business or something. Your paying an extra 1000$ for a phone for 2 years.

30 x 24 for data plan = 720

200 for the phone

and a bunch more for a warranty which you better get if your getting that phone.



sooo long story short il stick with my free phone.

huh is this some phone all i know is ive had the same phone for 3 years now..has it not turned for several week straight...does it take shitty photos yes...but it makes calls most of the time

And yeah the Eris is pimp too. It has a blackberry like ball scroll deal. Plus it ran a little smoother if you ask me.

And it has the Sense GUI

I tried to download a ski game and it didn't work. Although I am still getting used to it

HAHAHAHHAHA, that's so funny.  The correct thing to say would be "there is nothing as easy to use as the iPhone'.  Trust me, there are a hand full of phones better than the iPhone.  Apple just does a better job of marketing and having all the little kids think it's the best phone.

    Yeah I really don't think it is a fair comparison if you haven't used them both. I can't use an Iphone because  AT&T network sucks and the cited problems with call problems above. Then I like a qwerty keyboard....
    See now I provided reasoning and justification for my claims against the iphone.

    You...you just make stupid statements about things you haven't even seen.

    Yeah, but iphone apps don't work on here, and hardware and software wise the droid is more capable.

    Iphone has a head start with 60,000 apps out (most of which cost money, and are all subject to Apples approval).

    Android (name of the OS) phones....there is only like 12,000 apps...but anyone can make anything for the Droid. Resulting in less (Virtually no) applications being denied.

    The Droid is just one of a dozen or so phones out right now. The only network without an Android based phone is AT&T, but they are getting them soon as well.

    I sell the iPhone everyday, trust me, I have seen it.  It's not even close to the best phone out.  I bet the Droid is way better.

    i would rather wait about 6 months and get the even better droid 2 because it will have so many more features than the OG and then i will have the best phone untill the next one comes out a few months later that is.

    You have to hold down the alt key to type numbers while in the browser, haven't found a way around that.

    Keyboard is really smooth though. Its basically like any motorola keyboard, smooth to the touch, yet works good. Not like blackberry buttons obviously.

    The screen resolution / quality is amazing.

    The video recording is 720 x 480 @ 24fps, so 480i. But it is better than a lot of digital cameras recording capability even. 5mp camera with autofocus and LED flash.

    16gb built on storage plus 512mb of internal memory. Run multiple apps at once, turn by turn gps. Tons of great features, tons of great apps. I searched for ski in the apps place, and I found a ton. Games and apps...trail maps, conditions, etc.

    There is this barcode scanner app which will impress your friends. You can scan barcodes of shit and it goes online and finds it...and compares prices.

    The phone is what you make of it...like the Iphone...

    The abundant amount of applications and tweaking you can do makes it a phone that allows you to pimp it to how you see fit. This is an iphone competitior. Iphone set the bar for smartphones for fun phones, and this meets that bar, and hardware wise....kicks the Iphone in the nuts. Software wise........the Iphone has a several year head start on the Android O/S.

    It will take time for the Android OS to gain all the traction the Iphone has, but with all the carriers supporting Android...I expect this traction to be found quickly.

    More processing power - – 600 MHz ARM Cortex A8 with a PowerVR SGX 530 GPU and 430MHz C64x+ DSP + ISP (Image Signal Processor)

    The CPU is downclocked to 550mhz for battery life concerns I guess though.

    Actually I have used several touch phones and none are half as intuitive and easy to use as the Iphone or the touch.
    Also no other phone has as good apps for it

    You have seen the Android Market I take it? There are over 12,000 apps.....and like mentioned everything worth being developed....has already been developed.

    If not then please, take your opinions elsewhere.

    Also Iphone lacks a real GPS program. Unless you shell out $70 for one.....Droid has built in turn by turn with built in everything you want but a hookers and blow locator.

    Android OS version 2.0 includes gps turn by turn with google.

    There is an app for the Iphone that allows you to get turn by turn gps, but it costs $70.

    yeah, i agree. i am an iphone user, and i love this thing. the only thing i wish it had was better battery life. but when my contract runs out and if AT&T has an android phone, i'm definitely checking it out.

    Yeah. I was testing out my phone tonight while driving home. You can listen to Pandora, while browsing the web, and you can minimize your web browser and do other shit too...all at the same time.

    Really snazzy shit.

    Right now I can basically stream anything online (either shoutcast or pandora) to my phone.......plug it in to an FM transmitter and have streaming internet radio anywhere.

    Oh yeah if you receive a call while listening to Pandora, it stops Pandoras audio while you are talking. Hang up...and Pandora is bangin right away.

    Such an old article.  I don't understand the phone vs. phone hate. You have the anti-apple people yelling "z0mg da iphone suxxxxor b-cuz its dum and apple sux," and the apple fanboys yelling "my os is superior to your os." The iPhone doesn't suck, neither does the Droid.  I own an iPhone, it's great.  It's easy to use, it makes calls, it plays my music.  I had a blackberry.  It's easy to use, makes calls, plays music.  I'd venture a guess that the Droid is also easy to use, makes calls, and plays your music.

    Also, that article that was quoted way up there was fucking retarded. Maybe I'm dense and it was a joke though.

    The way you've been posting, it seems like you were always mad that Verizon never had a phone that sold better than an iPhone, and now that the latest "iPhone killer" is out and you have it, you can finally bash the iPhone. There is no other phone I have ever used, that's easier to use than my iPhone, and I have never used a phone with a touch screen half as nice as the iPhone. Apple has their shit on lock, and while it seems this Droid has a chance of being better than the iPhone, just wait an see what Apple is pulling out of their ass this coming June. They just came out with an iPod with a camera in it in September, I had been thinking they should put a camera in an iPod ever since early 2006. The products Apple comes out with in say 2012, could easily be thought up and released this year, it's just the way they're playing their customers. Once the next hot product drops, everyone needs it. That is why Apple has been so successful.

    As far as the rest of your comments go......I would love to discuss them, but it would just turn in to a mud slinging fest.

    But in a nutshell, you are Apple's bitch. They pull the strings, they call the shots. You have to jailbreak your phone for it to even be considered cool. You didn't even have MMS until when? Once the next Apple product drops, everyone needs it, because their current Iphone product holds 27 minutes of charge.


    I am not trying to argue with you personally, but you should step back and look at the big picture. There was a time when everyone thought Apple was going under....and this was less than a decade ago.

    But yeah lets see your IPhone 3GS stream Pandora / Shoutcast radio @ 128kbps, while being able to surf the net going down the highway....or take 5mp photos, or 720 x 480 @ 24fps video, or do turn by turn navigation for free, or watch Youtube without hacking your phone....

    I am just saying as of November 6th, 2009 the Droid shits on the Iphone :)

    You bring up some good points. As far as me being Apple's bitch- that I am not. I bought my iPhone because I really wanted to upgrade from my free phone, and because of its simplicity. The fact that I sync my iPhone with my computer, and every song on iTunes is on my phone 30 seconds later, is great, it doesn't get much easier than that. DL song off the internet, import to iTunes, plug in phone, and in less than five minutes, that song is on my phone, along with my movies, videos, and pretty much everything else I can sync up with iTunes. As far as Pandora goes, I'm not a fan and I never really use it, so it works out for me. I cruise the internet all the time going down the highway, so you can throw that argument out the window. As far as MMS goes, it came out a week after I got my iPhone, so that did not really effect me. Another thing I get with my iPhone is excellent customer service. I can call up Apple and have outstanding help, or I can cruise down to the Apple store and have it checked out. I watch YouTube on the pre-installed YouTube app all the time. I can find and follow my location with Google Maps and that's pretty much just as good as turn-by-turn navigation. I punch in where I want to go, and all I do is let my little blue dot follow the green highlighted route. I can tell my phone what song to play, or tell Google what to search for. The messaging system is outstanding on the iPhone. I've never had an issue with calls and AT&T has stellar service where I live, plus we get 20% off. I see the Droid as another phone that claims it will kill the iPhone, and it has the best chances, but the iPhone won't die.

    Not a pandora user myself. People were just claiming you could stream internet radio to your droid, and it would work fine. So I decided to try it myself.

    But I have been anti-apple all in all. Call me old fashioned but i've never imported anything in to itunes. All it does is complicate things for me.......I just prefer to copy and paste.

    Although you can sync Itunes with your Droid I read.


    In the end this is only good for everyone, because the Droid will force Apple to compete more, and so on. If only yes...data plans got cheaper heh.

    i hate to burst your bubble but i have a pandora app that works flawlessly so stop comparing a phone that came out in like 2006 to a phone that came out 3 years later obviously the newer technology will have benefits but to point out the fact that a well thought out argument could be made for either side is embarrassing for your "iphone killer" congrats your 3 years late....

    connect plans do not meet the data standards a smartphone requires.

    My plan is $39.99 voice, $10 text, $7.99 insurance, $29.99 data. I use google voice for texting so I don't need the unlimited texting package or the select plans starting @ 59.99
