Full tilt issue, +K for help

heat molding should fix this, for sure, even just take like a blowdryer and heat up the boot for a good10 minutes and stick your foot in it it should clear up, if not take it back to the shop and get them to proffesionaly heat mold them

heat molding should fix it, I have the same thing though even after I heat mold - it doesn't bother me while skiing at all, it only happens when I'm walking in them a lot, but if you lift the bottom buckle while walking it prevents is (you just have to remember to re-buckle it before skiing again).

Aight I'll get that done this weekend, only thing I'm worried about is if I do get them heat molded and for some reason they still don't fit right, I probably can't return them. While I could just take them back and get a boot that feels right from the start.

Heat mold them and ski them enough for them to pack out, the difference will be amazing. If you still have a problem, a legit boot tech can punch or mold the shell a little to fix the problem. That is last resort though, get at least 5 solid days on them first.

Make sure it's a legit shop (ask them how long its gonna take - if they say anything under 30 mins they're not doing it right). Also make sure they put the toe cap on for sure, and if the put the think on top of your ankle too thats even better. Then, after you've skied them they'll pack out and you wont feel that pain while skiing at all - and like I said, if you feel it like walking, just unbuckle the bottom buckle and it goes away (you don't have to take the cable off, just lift the buckle up).

do you have foot beds?? if not GET THEM!!!!!!!!, super feet work great at a good price.

Coming from a bootfitter, why did you not just get them molded in the shop? Any ID liner, like the one in your boots will not feel amazing until you mold it. Molding them will clear up most problems. ID liners are one of the few boots that doesn't need a footbed in it. The bottom of the liner is made to mold to your foot. It is not uncommon though to see people with footbeds in a boot with ID liners.

Fosho, the only reason I didn't get them molded when I bought them is because I was in a bit of a hurry, but after reading all the response on here it sounds like that was straight up just a mistake. Question though, is it really necessary to wear two ski socks with the toe caps?

Whatever you do, dont do it with a hairdryer like the cheesedick up top said.  The intuition heater, atleast the one i have, has a precision temp adjustment along with a few other things that allow you not to melt the shit out of it.  Go see a real bootfitter.  For the record, i did not use toecaps to mold mine and it came out okay.  I like a tight toebox though.

the best thing is to mold them. There's no such thing as a boot that will fit perfectly without being molded.

Just packing them out a bit will help also.

Footbeds aren't neccessaraly the best way either.

japanada is spot on with pretty much everything. the only thing he didnt mention is which heater to use. i know full tilt's got their own heater, and k2/ride have a stack heater for their intuition liners, but i've used them before and they don't really heat the liner up quite enough to get a good mold. my shop uses one of the old raichle convection ovens. we've used that on the dalbello ID liners, ride and k2 snowboard boot liners, and now full tilt ID liners and it works much better. it heats the whole liner much more evenly than the stack heaters do. it takes a little longer, and the liner is definitely a little warm when you put it on your foot, but totally worth it for how much better of a mold you get. if heat molding doesnt solve your issue, that's a pretty easy spot to just press the shell out. i had to do it to my boots too, no big deal, it just takes a few hours to do.

I left out the heating issue, as I figured his shop would do it in the method that they feel works best. My shop heats them up in the old Richele ovens too, we have tried the stacks, but they dont work as well.

I had the same issue with mine even after I had them heat molded because of a bony mass on the outside of my foot.. but I just manned up for about 3 days of riding, and voila no more pain, the boots packed out nicely and they feel like a cozy slipper..

In short, Heat mold first to make the process easier, then if you still have a little pain man up for a couple days and it will be worth it in the end

i also have a question. when i bought my ft booters, i had to drive an hour and a half to get them at the only dealer around me. they guy there said not to heat mold them unless you feel its absolutly necessary, because it kills the liner. so i was a pushover and didnt heat mold them. now i realize that i needed them to be molded, and i dont want to drive all the way down there again, so can i do it at a shop that can still heat boots but isnt a fulltilt dealer? like will the boots get screwed up because they are fulltilts being taken to a non fulltilt dealer?

Rice molding instructions.


Steps:


1. Take out your fit kit from your liners; this includes 1 pair of fitting socks, 1 pair of toe caps.


2. Take your old liners out of your boots and replace them with your new Intuition liners.


3. Remove 1 fitting sock from the package.


4. Fill the sock with 3-4 lbs of long or short grain white rice. That’s right, fill it with rice! Use 3 lbs. of rice for sizes 9 and below and 4 lbs. of rice for sizes 10 and above.


5. Now tie a knot at the end of the sock. A figure eight if you know how or a granny knot will also work.


6. Spread the sock out on a counter and form it into a large, long sausage shape.


7. Place the rice sock into your microwave oven; be sure to keep it in an even tubular shape.


8. Set your oven on one of the following settings based on the ovens wattage output 700W - 7 min / 1000 – 1100W 5 min / 1200 – 1250W 4 min


9. Heat the rice sock in the oven for the specified time.


10. Place the toe cap on your foot, left or right your choice. Be sure to place the Intuition logo on your big toe.


11. Place the other fitting sock over the toe cap and pull up the sock evenly, eliminating all wrinkles.


12. When the timer goes off pull your rice sock out of the oven by the knotted end. Be careful it’s hot and you could get burned!


13. Hold it by the knot and place it into your liner. You will need to work the rice sock into your liner by hitting the boot into the floor multiple times first on its heel and then on it’s toe. Keep on tapping it into the floor going back and forth between the heel and toe until the rice sock has settled deeper into the liner.


14. Set a timer for 5 - 7 minutes and let the boot stand with the rice sock inside the liner.


15. Remove the rice sack after at least 5 minutes and place your foot in the boot liner with your toe cap on securely. Buckle up or lace up your boot to the normal tension settings. Keep weight on your boot for 5 – 7 minutes, walking around occasionally.


16. You are now done. Remove your foot, take off the sock and toe cap and get ready to do the next boot in the same way.

also i commented on foot beds because if his arch is falling he is going to have pressure on the sides of his foot and is easily solved with more support.

I have the same problem. If I wear thin socks, the boots are amazing, but if I wear thicker ones my foot feels weird.

The shop I bought them at told me to ride on the boots a few days, then come back before they heat mold them because the liners are molded to the shell and if shell work needs to be done, they would have to remold the liners.

Really? Both times I got mine molded I did them fairly snug but I would not call it tight at all. The tech said if you crank on them when youre molding the liners they will pack out a lot quicker/once the pack out you wont be able to get them as tight as you need too

I always mold them with the buckles really tight, ive found that my customers say that the boots fit better afterwards. Unless you are looking for an extremely tight fit, I always go with 2 socks and a really tight buckling.

Clamping too tight will ruin the liner quickly.  The intuitions by nature, shrink to mold.  If you buckle too tight, you end up crushing too much material. 

HEAT MOLD THEM!!!! the closed cell foam of the intuition liners is far more dense than any other liner...offering far better insulation, power transfer, and longevity! they will not pack out under normal use.

also with intuition liners you do not need a bulky or even insulated ski sock! the thinner the better! you will stay plenty warm!

those heating instructions came directly from intuition, doing them up tight is the way to go.
