Gross things in food that dont need to be there......

ive been gettin a little more aware of what i eat. in the end it makes me more productive and healthy (no shit right?)
im not a vegan or anything, just tryin to get away from nasty shit. read the labels more often!

organic milk for me is a huge one. i started drinking it a couple years ago and now there is absolutely no way im going back to that chem shit milk.
organic veggies/fruit is another one... theyre fuckin grown, shouldnt they all be organic?

all these gross additives/substitutes as well...
high fructose corn syrup is an important one for me too. its gross when you really think about it. like... pepsi sells two kinds - regular and pepsi MAX. both same flavors only MAX doesnt have HFCS. why even put that shit in if you dont need it? it taste better without anyway.

saturated fat is nasty too. sometimes it feels great in my stomach but only when im super hungry.
they get tricky though. some foods say no sat fat but the ingredients have partially hydrogenated something... partially hydrogenated anything IS sat fat.

Yeah dude i totally agree. I got into nutrition after i started lifting. taking an extra effort to get organic milk (or even almond milk) and fresh fruit (not frozen) is definitely worth it. Eggs instead of protein powder and the list goes on forever.

hey man i love progesterone in my milk, and just because it increases the rate of infections in the udder therefor increasing the amount of puss in the milk is pretty cool

totally agreed on organic skim milk, it's all i drink

also i eat whatever organic food i can except some things just aren't good organic. but i'd say most of my diet is organic

High fructose corn syrup is used in drinks primarily because it is cheap and also to support americas corn growing industry. There are many alternatives out there to the mainstream coke/pepsi products that are made with real sugar. The problem you'll inevitably have with these products is that they cost more, and you as a consumer want everything as cheap as possible. So, either you'll live with the inferior mainstream product because you're cheap or maybe you'll cut back on the soda drinking and buy less of a higher quality product.

As far as saturated fat is concerned, some of it is naturally occurring, so if you eat bacon beware that the saturated fat is there no matter what. I'm pretty sure you know that though as you were talking about partially hydrogenated whateverthefuck and i won't talk out my ass about something i don't really know much about. (even if it is the NS way)

Skim milk is nasty, they take all the goodness out of the milk.

And you know when they get chickens they inject them with steroids after there dead.
They also do that to cows, so when you drink milk your drinking some steroids.

And last but not least, I normal tomato should last a week right. Well these tomato's in these stores today last about a month or so

I've been recently reading some books that talk about how a lot of our nutrition standards or whatever, are bullshit, and may actually negatively affect our health.  They do a lot of comparisons between traditional diets of many different cultures and the lack of health problems, and then the all of the shit we eat including all of our "health foods" and all of the health issues we have.  Its pretty interesting to think about.

To the OP, even though normal Pepsi and Coke have HFCS, Max, Light and Zero contain aspartam, which is pretty just a big, bad cancer activator. And there's a lot of fucking aspartam to make up for "no sugar" to keep the taste even remotely lalike. Just don't drink sodas at all, they're really bad for you and much like cigs, when you stop using you notice you're not really missing out on shit.

I think people should at least understand what they're eating/drinking. I know most people that eat fast food or any other really low quality food don't know shit about what actually is in it, and what goes into making it. But if people actually know about the whole process of the food and what's in it and they still want to eat it, I say go for it, it's their life.

some parents have no problem giving their kids a 2L bottle of mountain dew for breakfast.

healthy eating habits start with your parents, and it seems like parents are just lazier these days.

I remember seeing a thread on another site that had various pictures of a weeks worth of groceries for various countries. The US diet had the most processed foods of any other nation depicted.

this isnt even about "oh, they should stop using bad shit in food"
i was more into the "we need to eat actual food instead of food like substances"
they had a daily show once that talked about this kinda stuff. ill use their food on a stick example; its not really food, i dont even know what to call it.
sure using alternatives saves money, im not debating that. and im not saying we need to make a "safe" soda. i dont care about soda, just used it as an example.

processed food is another one. mechanically separated anything to me is nasty. mainly chicken/hot dogs. i dont really know where im going with this but bottom line, eat REAL food. not manufactured or altered.

There are some things that I think genetic engineering can enhance though, golden rice for example. The beta carotene gene is spliced from a daffodil and inserted into rice. There is a huge Vitamin A deficiency through out the world and with rice being one of the largest crops in many of these areas, golden rice could really help yet many people are against it simply because it is genetically engineered. It could really increase the health of kids, but lots of people do not want it.

holy shit that's thread worthy....Wow, that american family eats the most disgusting shit. I have the occasionaly homemade pizza when I'm starving but usually eat alot of free range chicken, eggs, broccoli, tuna and pasta.
