Okay folks - Time to get your old wise advice hats on cos I am pretty much stumped.

Background Story:

Just under 2 years ago, I started seeing my best mates sister. She's smoking hot, and I fall for her quite badly, we see each other for a couple of months, it's a big secret and I keep saying to the girl that I want to tell my mate, but she won't let it happen. She says she will deny it and lie about it until her last breath, make my life not worth living if I do tell him. We ended our thing for one reason or another, and we all move on and forget about it.

So more recently, my best mate obviously had some suspicions because he text me saying "I heard from my sister that you fucked her, I am really hurt". Turns out he didn't know at all, he just had a suspicion and I fell for it.

Anyway, we never actually spoke on the phone about it, just messages over facebook or text or whatever. I tried calling him but he wouldn't answer. At first he was like "you are DEAD to me", then he sent me a message saying "So I over reacted, give me space for a couple of weeks and maybe we can go for a drink and put this behind us". 2 weeks later, I send him a message saying I am in London in a few weeks, how about that drink. He tells me to stop acting like an ex girlfriend and stop pestering him. Then he texts me tonight saying he wanted to fight it out. I was like fair play but no shots to the hair or face (obviously). He wants a full Knock out fight, but I don't think I want that (he's angry!).

Anyway he called me up after a few texts and was fucking livid. I mean screaming down the phone to me. I don't think I realised until this moment how livid he is. Everything I said to apologise, he turns it into my trying to find sympathy or me not having a clue how he feels etc etc. He was arrested mid convo because he was shouting at me so much. He may have been drunk.

So NS. My question to you is, how on earth do I try to sort things out with this guy? I have no idea what to do, and I want to sort it before I move away for the season in 6 weeks time.

If I could give you one piece of advice bro, that would be to tell him. If you think that might stop you from getting her, then maybe fuck her then tell him. He will be angry but he will get over it. My problem was keeping it secret and lying about it.

are you not good enough for her or did you disrespect her or something?
sure, its his sister, but she should be free to date whoever she wants.

i would try to discuss it with him in person, maybe with another friend there for mediation.
and if your friendship with this dude is reallly that important to you; maybe you should fight it out, but let him win, maybe him kicking you around a little would be his way of blowing off steam and would get him calmed down over the whole situation.

I know what you mean, it is a massive over reaction, but he's my best mate and I wanna sort things out either way.

I think he's more pissed that I lied to him. It did come up once at a party and he asked me if I had slept with her and I said no. I guess I should have put that in the OP

talk it out with him, say your sorry you lied but she should be able to sleep with whomever she wants. fightings not gonna solve anything with this guy, he just needs to wake up and realise his sister's grown up and out of his control. You shouldnt have to beg him or sacrifice your own happiness because of his sisters choice. the lie is all you should be sorry for

sounds gay but I think for this situation its your best option.

since he have a conversation with you without freaking , make it a one way conversation by emailing him. In the email, explain the details of your relationship, how well you treated her, how it killed you to not be able to tell him all that time and why. make sure to express how bad you feel and make the story clear.

I had this happen to me.  One of my best friends.....yeah....with my younger sister.  

Anyway, he told me in person, and was prepared for me to flip out.  Instead, I just said "no big deal"  and walked away.  We're still friends.  In that moment I thought to myself, I could beat the shit out of this kid, or I can just say fuck it and let it go.  So I chose to let it go. 

In the end, what good will it do your friend if he beats up on your or tries?  Honestly man, your friend sounds like an immature fucking tool.  Tell him to stop being a bitch and get over it.  It's fairly obvious that you've lost him as a friend at this point, but I mean whatever if he's going to be such a jerk to you over it...so be it. 

It's tough news to hear, but he really is just being an idiot.
