i mountain bike. im not to bad at it, i know the basics. now i have my mountain bike up here at school in NYC, so i wanna go rip around the city. anyone have any basic tips for getting started trials riding. i have the day off from classes today, i figgure im just gonna ride downtown and hop stairs and stuff. also i can hop decent sized stuff on the mountain, but i ride clipless there. i cant figgure out how to bunny hop any more than like a foot high without my clipless pedals. any tips for bunny hopping/ riding in general on flats? i road bike pretty avidly so clipless is all i know haha
In trials biking you generally don't bunny hop the same way you would when you were rolling. Practice locking up your back brake and coming back onto your rear wheel and hopping ratcheting forward. It takes a bit of time figuring out when and where to release the brakes and to get your pedaling figured out but once you've got it down you can start jumping around. It's way easier to jump up onto things like this because the front wheel is already in the air.
