Im going out west this February for the first time.
Its ridiculous because i have been skiing since i was 3.
I want to buy a camera to make an edit of the whole trip.
For around 500-600 good old american dollars.
I want the camera to be hd, and have an ok battery life (or ability to buy better batteries).
Does anyone have suggestions?
i have been looking at the Canon vixia HF100 and HF200.
Thanks and +k for help
thanks for the offer
but i just got a job so im just beginning to save up the money
i was also wondering how everyone takes care of their camera in the cold
how do you prevent it from getting wet while snowing, filming pow, and how do you prevent condensation in the camera?
Im in the same exact boat as u, but just upgrading to HD.
Definatly get a good backpack if ur dropping $600 on a camera. It will keep it safe on the mountain from snow and if u fall. Im not a huge fan of dakine....but there are some quality bags on the web for cheap if u no where to look.
As for pow, i sometimes cover my cam with a zipplock baggy and cut a whole for the lens...idk it works for me.
i dont wana deal with avchd, id rather just get an hv30/40 like everyone else throw a wide angle on it and be set, it shoots amazing footage though just dont have the patience to deal with it right now
avchd is the new thing man might as well get use to it, even though i have no patience, my sd100 records straight to flash to thats straigth just pop it right into a card reader and your stuffs good to go
im going to crested butte sometime in February, not exactly sure when.
but due to new college payment concerns i might not be able to get enough for a camcorder and gear.
might end up just settling for dslr.
but i have time to think.
