Survey for class: Thoughts on smoking

for sociology i'm suppose to go survey a bunch of people in real life.. however, I would much rather see what people here say.

I can make up any question I want to survey people.

My question is: "What are your thoughts on smoking?"

answer it in any way you wish, it isn't specific to just tobacco. Whatever smoking comes to your mind. Speak up.

my thoughts:

I just started smoking weed this past summer.  never felt the need to try it before, then it was around and free so i tried it.  Needless to say now i love smoking weed.  It makes my gut hurt from laughing just about every time i smoke.  It makes listening to music better, and it just makes you overall happier.  It is an awesome drug that i'm not addicted to at all.  but i do love to smoke it!!! =D

I am 22, and a college graduate.

So when I think of smoking....I think of either cigarettes, or marijuana.

Cigarettes disgust me, I find the smell nauseating and I find people who smoke cigarettes repulsive. It's an immediate turn off and I just want to walk the other way. Everything about it grosses me out. And yes, I have tried it a few times.

Marijuana is something I do a few times a month maybe, maybe not so much anymore since I'm out of college. Smoking weed is something that I don't look down upon, unless it is done in excess. If that is all somebody does, and they spend everyday high at some point, I have a lot less respect for them because then they just seem lazy. I use weed on occasion to relax and just unwind. I don't think it should be illegal, because I don't find it to be harmful.

this is word for word almost my same story, so i wont type it

but to add to this, i find it generally puts me in a better mood, im not pissed off at my parents/friends anymore, i feel more sociable, i feel it has helped me become more accepting with people who do drugs/drink, about a year ago i was just straight up stubborn on the whole thing, but ive seen now that i gotta live my life scotch-free while im young, and the only thing i see wrong is drinking and driving.

smoking- tobacco, eh not a huge fan of regular cigarettes, didnt like menthols, black n milds when im ripped, otherwise theyre kinda gross, but i do love some damn cloves, blacks preferably lol

Tobacco: it's legal so whatever, smells like shit and has way to many unknown chemicals that they don't tell you about, and can make you more addicted. It aslo kills way to many people on a daily basis...

Marijuana: illegal, and itSHOULDN"T be. doesn't smell like crap, no unknown man made chemicals in weed, all natural! Pot can help cure a lot of things. I know for a fact that it can help Chemo, atleast it helped my uncle live through it... And it makes you feel good, haha

Salvia: Who the fuck know

Crack: stay away from that shit, you could loose everything if you faill into it and it could kill you

smoking weed - fun, makes everything awesome, generally non-harmful to your body, makes you think about stuff way deeper than normal.

smoking cigarettes - dirty, no point, harmful to your body, doesn't look fun, somking cigs just looks shitty to me personally

19, I enjoy a smoke, tobacco or weed it doesnt matter really.  That being said I think that in our society things have gotten kinda fucked up with it.  The fact that the legal of the two is the more harmful one that has crazy shit added to it makes no sence.  But either way I'll be smoking on occasion untill the day i die both tobacco (which i find myself addicted to on an on off basis) and the green which i can just smoke every once in a while and enjoy it.

I'm 16, an Junior in High School

I've been smoking weed on a pretty inconsistent basis since I was 14. I'll smoke anywhere between 2-12 times a month. I find that it relaxes me a lot and makes things more enjoyable. I see zero downsides to weed other than the fact that it's socially unacceptable in some places. I think it should be legalized because not only is it fun and relaxing but compared to cigarettes the harmfulness of it is miniscule.

I've tried cigarettes and I find them gross. They just seem dirty, they smell like shit, and all the chemicals and tar and shit in them is nasty. Not to mention the addictive characteristic of them. I think Cigarettes should be the illegal one, considering that thousands of people die every year from lung cancer that the cigarettes can cause.

In summary,

Marijuana - Good
Cigarettes - Bad

well, smoking in general could be taken as cigarettes or marijuana so you might want to rephrase the question but ill answer for both since everyone else has.

when it comes to smoking tobacco, i have never tried it and i never want to. i have hung out with people who smoke and the smell is awful. supposedly it gives you a buzz, but i don't see how being addicted to a $8 inhalant is worth it. and that is just for one pack. people go through 2 a day sometimes. if you are a girl and smoke tobacco, i will not have any interest in a relationship. it is my one turn off above fat ugly bitches.

when it comes to smoking weed on the other hand, i only view it as bad if you do it almost every day and it gets to point where (and yes i know it isnt an addictive drug) you really crave a joint or bowl or any form of smoking in a day. i do smoke on occasion and i do find it to be incredibly fun. you laugh, you eat, you have a good time with your friends. unless you do it all the time, you aren't going to do much, if any, damage to your body. i also find it easier to focus when im high. watching a movie high is an amazing thing. you will pay attention to every detail and (at least i do) remember the movie very well. and this works the same for doing research papers to me. i feel like weed is less harmful than tobacco, although i have not done research on it; that is just my opinion.

Weed is good but too much of it is a bad thing. i would say that more then a few times a week is too much, but im sure other people have their own oppinions. Ive smoked cigarettes before and i realise now how nasty they are, not only because of the chemicals(huge reason) but also you smell terrible and you mouth taste bad. I hooked up once with a girl that was a smoker.. pretty nasty

I'm 24, I started smoking cigs in college in nyc. it was damn near the only way to go outside and cool off and also get a chance to talk to girls without yelling in their ear. i still smoke on occasion, when im drunk or really bored, but i also don't like the smell so i usually spray some febreeze and wash my hands after

smoking is all good, as in tabacoo. Weed, is not a bad idea, but dont drive,, and dont do it just to get someone DTF. Dont get caught with weed,, dont kill yourself with it. Smoking laws like in my town are retarded, if you want to smoke in public,, fucking do it, your kill yourself more by eating fast food than smoking.

I picked up smoking when I was 15, and I still do.  It disgusts me that people think its ok to be rude to smokers.  Probably once a month I have someone ask me to put out a cigarette, and I usually tell them to fuck off.  The other day someone working at Starbucks told me I couldn't smoke at the outside table next to the door.  I told him to call the police.  We all have habits that piss other people off.  I for one, hate fat people.  It doesn't mean I say "Oh could you please go be fat farther away from me please?  Its really disgusting".  I personally think second hand smoke is stupid.  Its ridiculous how much they can charge for smokes just because they're bad for you.  America was built on tobacco.  Like literally, the original colonies would have had 0% chance of survival, tobacco was their only cash crop.  Here's a good example, I hate the smell of clove cigarettes, HATE it, makes me want to puke.  And you know what?  I FUCKING DEAL.  If someone wants to smoke a clove next to me, I DON'T FUCKING CARE, ITS NOT THAT BIG OF A DEAL.  People these days are just such huge pussy's it astounds me.

I also think that tobacco itself doesn't give you cancer, and thats a common misconception.  Now, tobacco will give you emphesema, chronic bronchitus, other things, but its the shit that goes into tobacco at cigarette companies that gives you the cancer.  I reckon if you grew and rolled your own tobacco you wouldn't get cancer, its all the Uranium and rat poison that goes into it.

Oh, I smoke weed too.  Its ridiculous that its illegal but honestly it doesn't bother me much because I smoke it like 6 times a day anyway, in my car, at school, at work, walking down the street, whatever, so it doesn't make much of a difference to me that it is.  However medical usage is a basic human right and needs to be legalized immediately for the sake of the people that actually need it.  I also drive high every day and its fine.

I'll quit cigarettes when I move out of LA, too many of my friends here smoke.  I'll quit weed when I have a kid.....maybe.

Oh and I'm 20.

Also, weed saved my life basically, I forgot to say that.  Long story short, before smoking weed I was overweight, socially awkward, inactive, and a general loser.  Now I do lots of sports, physically fit, hook up with mad hot chicks, get good grades in school, have way too many friends, go to cool parties, etc.  Its seriously done wonders for me.

Smoking: hate it. Cigs are dumb as shit, and despite all the "weed has never killed anybody" kind of young rhetoric, I still find the incessant need for most to blaze to be fucking stupid. I have friends that blaze from time to time, deal, etc, but I've always found it... pointless.

cigs are scummy, no reason to smoke em, waste a money, looked down upon

stogies are alright not very harmful if you just puff 'em. they're dope i do em now and then

Smoked ciggies for about 10 years - haven't had one for about 5 years now. They are pretty damn bad for you - great to hear a lot of people paying them out. Don't really smoke herb but have no problem with people that do (in moderation). I have smoked in the past though, and thought it was a pretty mellow fellow thing to do :)

Hookah is fun for about 6 months but once you smoke it too much it starts to taste waxxy and overly sweet.  It gives you a weird head rush too, not a nice one like cigarettes, a sickly one that makes you feel all strung out.  I have lots of friends that work at hookah bars though so I got pretty burned out on it.

im 17, and smoking herb changed my life positivtly. Before i was overwheight, depressed, very little friends, bad grades, played way to many video games. It prety much changed my life around. Now i have tons of friends, i try so much harder in school, i now love life, i love mankind, and it has also saved my soul spiritually. I am now so spiritually conneceted to god, but no official religion, just an overal love of all things and thankful for every thing. Show this to your professor.

im 18. ive smoked ganj since i was about 16. I love it, anyone that has ever smoked it knows why so no need to explain. My best friend has smoked ganj daily for about 2 years and has never once taken even a drag of a cigarette even while intoxicated. I used to try and get him to smoke a cig but now i just look up to him b/c to smoke weed as much as he does and to never have even tried a cig is pretty cool. As for me i smoke cigs. usually just one a day unless i smoke the ganj mulitiple times or am intoxicated. I dont like em, thy smell like shit and make ur hands smell like shit but are addicitng as hell and do give you a dec buzz and they also complement ganj real well.

I smoke weed, i think its a really good think and for sure should be legalized. I do it prolly once a week to two weeks. It helps me out when lifes shitty or just makes the day better but im not gonna be one of those people who do it twice a day. Cigarettes on the other hand, Terrible. My dad died from them annd so has my uncle. Tried one once and never again, If you do it i have nothing against you i just dont think its worth it.

When I think of smoking 3 things come to mind, pot, cigs, and salvia

Pot: Pretty much gods vagina, as long as its not abused, and is the only thing you do. First time I tried it maybe 2 years ago, I never put it ahead of girls, family, or grades. I mostly do it on the weekends, or when skiing. Great social catalyst and make EVERYTHING better.

Cigs: My whole life Ive been anti-tobacco, had an aunt addicted, hated the smell, and the smoke tried maybe 2 drags and was done with the drug. Hate it even flavored.

Salvia: Ive only tried it once. Not the best thing in the world. Started yelling at my friend for no apparent reason, saw boats, shapes and water all around me when I was sitting. Probably never gunna try it again, not a very fun trip, but definately an experience

Im 17 i smoke weed prolly for about 3 years now, and not consistant with it sometimes once a week to twice a day to taking a month off or 2, basicly depends on how much money i have and how i prioritze.  i love it and enjoi it every time.  i get good grades in school and it has never caused me any harm, but not really life changeing but helps alot when i have a shitty day, or just looking to make things a lil more fun haha.  weed should be legalized and i dont see a reason why it should be illlegal.  ill smoke cigars when ever cuz they just stair up g, but never smoked a cig and dont plan on it, and find them to be rather repulsing.  i wont give you shit for it but id rather you not for your sake and that aweful smell.

Im 17 and have been smoking weed since i was 15, I think its fun, i think that it has less effect on your judgment than drinking, infact it hightens all of your senses. You can listen better, things taste better, it even hightens your sense of danger. But i guess smoking anything is bad for your lungs. As for tabacco i enjoy a cigar verry rarely, maybe some pipe smoke, but i really dont like cigerettes mostly because of the taste and smell But also its terrible for your lungs, and i like to run

Amazing. I have a great time when I'm high. My thoughts are way deeper and way more abstract. It boosts my interest and makes everyday things extraordinary.
It also gives me a much more positive outlook on the world. I went through a depression a while back and I can honestly say that weed is one of the main things that helped me through ti.

16, I've been smoking herb for a year, and I love it. I don't like when people put blazing before other things in their lives (school, relationships, etc), but I think in moderation weed is fucking awesome. I'm pretty up tight, so weed helps me unwind and feel great. Hemp also has a lot of great uses. Pisses me off that it is still illegal. Illegalizing it in the first place was morally wrong (it was made illegal due to the fact that hemp paper hurt the normal paper industry so powerful men like William Randolph Hearst ran smear campaigns against it, and people thought weed made poverty-stricken minorities commit crimes).

Cigs: tried them and didn't like the buzz. They made me feel light headed and shitty. Also tried packing lips, which made me feel light headed and shittier. All my friends dip and smoke, but I really would rather not be addicted to something that's not too fun and could kill me. If a girl smokes anything other than ganja, I'm disgusted. Back before I got some glass, I'd roll J's and tobacco made it them easier to roll and made the high a little better. Not really worth it considering the shit that's in tobacco. Plus, I'm not a fan of big businesses who don't care about the the average joe's health or happiness, which is what tobacco companies are exactly.

If that sentence didn't make sense, forgive me, it's because I'm tired and about to go to sleep

Salvia: Sounds like an experience, deffinitely getting some next time my dealer comes around.
