Being a level one cook as just the same as any other restaurant.
As for snowmaker, mainly work at night making snow but the resort i work at sometimes makes snow during the day.

snowmaking is physically demanding, cold and the hours would suck. Dont think you could have time for both snowmaking and skiing, cuz you would be so damn tired. Good luck finding a job.

do you have to be a good shredder to work for the park crew? also, what how can you ski during the day? i know it probably depends on the resort.

at my mountain... you didnt have to be amazing. and basically the job consisted of setting the park up in the morning... closing it at night. riding all day and occasionally a park reset/rebuild. as well as setting up for comps.
you rode pretty much all day and just maintained the parks condition. kept the jumps painted as well as lips to the rails, filled in bomb holes... and made sure everything looked good!

my parkcrew sucks dick. but it would be fun what they do. they just close off the feature shread it by them self for like a day untill it gets shitty and then they open it for the public and dont do maintanece on it so it pretty much a peice of shit by the time i get to hit it , and they get paid a decent amount for it.

What's a decent job to you? One that pays well or that you enjoy or both? I wouldn't expect a decent entry level pay. Most resorts comp the low pay with a season's pass.
Park crew is where it's at. Can be very physically demanding but it is a great time. You don't have to be awesome but decent enough to know a crappy setup from a good setup will help.

Cooking anywhere sucks at first but once you get the hang of it is pretty easy. It takes me like 6 months to get properly settled in at most cooking jobs, and they're pretty stressful. Honestly i've done construction, taught ages 3-18, done driving/delivering jobs, worked in bars, and some other stuff, and cooking is the most stressful out of everything i've done.

Park crew is sick. being a ski instructor is my fav. if you like sales, talking with people and skiing all day thats the one for you. you get the respect from everyone, your not a construction worker(ie park crew) you get tips, get taken out for drinks and dinners. and every once and a while you get a customer who skis like you ski and you two just rip all day long where ever you want(not just park )

Of the three jobs I've had at our resort, Park crew is the best so far, just above ski tech. I've also been your basic rental guy handing out skis and helping fatties put boots on, and that was the worst. But I love park crew, it's a great job, you're outside and you have some input on how the park is set up. We don't get to ride all day but it's not a huge deal.

No you don't have to work every day. There should be enough people to cover day and night shifts if your resort has night time park crew. We don't, so some people just work all nighters sometimes, but we definitely get to make our own schedule.

well being a snowmaker u wont be employed the entire season and it is def hard ass work. And for those who mentioned park crew, that is ALSO hard ass work depending on the resort. I know the guys at Copper bust their ass everyday out there. So dont think park crew is just a "walk in the park" - no pun intended- it is still a job.

Its really fast paced and there's a lot of stuff to fuck up, and you get yelled at a lot. Basically yeah that youtube vid.
To be fair though at a ski resort it probably wouldn't be too hard, you'd just be ladling out soup or putting beef in tacos or something.
All times are Eastern (-4)
