New sth 14s

im looking for some bindings for my EPs and was thinking of getting a pair of sth 14s since they are white and will match my skis. seriously though, i have heard good things about the sth line, particularly the 16s. i dont need a din that high, and want to save some weight, but have heard the 12s are suspect at times. this year i hear that the 14s are getting the same toe design as the 16s, while the 12s are getting the toe piece from the 14s from last year. is there any truth to this? will the beefier toe make the 14 more reliable, like the 16s? evogear has pictures (well, cgi) for the 14, but it says 16 on the toepiece. is this a mistake on their part, or a more reliable picture than the old one due to the new toe?

i heard the 14 is getting the driver toe this year as well, if thats true then yes, the driver toe is very durable and reliable

same here, and that is what I have been recommending people(seconded by Tyrolias).  The older 914 Labs are pretty close to the same as that(if not the exact same) and have been on skis.com for under $160 shipped through yesterday(they had been up years I think, the price was 160 for a long time) but lucky you ask THE DAY they put them up to $200.  I found them here on ebay for 170 shipped though: http://cgi.ebay.com/Salomon-914-Lab-Ski-Bindings-Red-NEW_W0QQitemZ200371505116QQcmdZViewItem so you might want to jump on that.  They are light(4.8lbs/pair) yet super durable.  If you are looking for either more metal than that or for a cheaper price, go post up a WTB on S914s(the even older 914 lab, more metal but pretty much the same design) on TGR and you can for sure get great condition ones for about 120 shipped.  Every binding I just named is a good choice(/S912s/S914s are good and fairly light, S916s are pure steel, 914 Labs are STH 16 housing with 14 din spring basically..STH 16s are great and if they change the STH 14 toe then it will also be great).  The other thing you can do is get peak 15s(09 is Peak 15s/09 Head Mojo 15s, Amplid 15s, FIscher 15s) or 08 tyrolia/head/4frnt(4frnt used the 08 mold on 09 model...)/fischer 08 mojo 15s for even less, and they don't weigh noticably more than Peaks.  Heres a cheap pair- http://www.powder7.com/sale-skis/ski-bindings/New-2009-Head-Mojo-15-Wide-Brake-Ski-Bindings
