Why is the site forcing my computer to download shit!

It's some blank document that won't open but my download window pops up on my mac using safari. the files increment in the file name too.

desktop_1_1
desktop_2_1
desktop_3_1
.... etc.

what are these files?
Why is this being done?

it happens when i first enter the site and every couple pages i go through

well.. what i meant was if you hold down the option key and click on a link, it'll download the link..

Complaining about it doesn't help the problem.

When this happens, post the URL that's causing it to happen, what web browser you're using, and whether or not you have an ad blocker installed.

web browser: Safari (said Mac, but i guess i coulda been running Mozilla but figured ppl would just assume safari)

blockers...... none

here's the link the folder is coming from:
I'm using the most up to date version of safari with the built in pop up blocker enabled

do something about this soon please, its annoying to delete 30 empty folders called desktop-any number 1-oo
