STD testing: anyone gone through it?

This is a relationship--gf/bf, who have responsibly used condoms up until this point, and she'd prefer to be safe before ditching condoms.

also, I'd just like to add three things:

1.) Aids is not the only STD to avoid
2.) Better safe than sorry...why NOT get tested?
3.) My husband and I both got tested prior to ditching condoms and shared our results. It is part of a healthy, responsible relationship.

but again-- what is the problem with someone being safe? What is the problem with a someone insisting that they and their partner BOTH get tested for STDs prior to switching from condoms to a monogamous, unprotected-sex relationship?
