this is a direct quote from my dad today. I just got home from climbing a 14er (CO love), and I was playing some music on the home computer. It happened to be atmosphere. I walked in my room to change, relax a bit. I come back out, and my dad is sitting at my computer, and tells me he is sick and tired of hearing this explicit rap in his house, and demands me to delete it. He says it makes me swear more, argue more, and act in a bad behavior.

So, he is making me delete it. all of it. all 5000 songs on my home and laptop computer, which he technically owns. Here's the problem:

I go to a University in the Midwest (Miami of Ohio) that will be an top 15 business school, and I am an honors student in that program. ps, its a bunch of white preppy kids.

Im on the waterski team and the executive board of my fraternity.

I'm working At merrill lynch this summer

I'm 20

and the minute he and I stopped arguing, he went and cursed (hell was the word he used) to my brother afterward.

explain to me how i am apparantly a delinquint and that my music is making me swear more and act innapropriatelly (spelling my b). sorry for the rant, but this is HORSESHIT.

And i can't just cut off all ties cause he's got me financially tied. he's paying for my college, and my internship this summer is unpaid. no money, a shitton of problems. I wish i could win the fucking lottery and live like the trustfund babies without my dad breathing down my fucking neck and choking my chain with that financial reminder. maybe that's why i want to be a financial advisor. FML!

2) don't depend on him anymore.. if he's paying for everything for you, you should at least do what the fuck he tells you to..

talk with him and tell him hes being irrational. present your arguments in a calm and cooled manner; dont immediately jump and start talking in a nasty way, like i do sometimes. show him how popular explicit music is in the world, and tell him that if he were to take all your music then he might as well tell you to stop watching pg13 and R movies. tell him youre an adult and can contril yourself, like you told us

Knowing UMOhio well, there's plenty of trust fund babies there and alot of the people fucking blow (did you hear about the Russ Corwin arrest there last year?) But if I were you, I'd just back them up somehow and then delete them. It'll suck but it's best to not start shit when you're financially dependent. Or explain to him that how it doesn't affect you by having a very civil conversation with him about it. Best of luck!

transport all of the music onto an external hard drive. delete the stuff on your comp, show him. after he approves copy the music from your hard drive into itunes so that it only plays when you have the hard drive plugged in. then if he catches you listening to it again you can tell him it isn't on the comp haha.

Do what others are saying and just back it up on a external, or if your dad isn't that computer literate, just delete it off itunes and save the music on your computer until you go back to school.
