Foot circulation

Ok, so i bought a new pair of dalbello il moros last season size 26.5 bsl 306 and they were pretty comfortable until i started skiing. When season came around i found that when i was riding my foot circulation would be piss poor and my feet would fall asleep. So i got the thinnest sock out there to try and combat this. It did minor work. Previously i was in 27.5 kryptons and my foot was just swimming in the babies, it was awful. I measure out at a 27-27.5 so 26.5 didnt seem bad at all, and they were fairly comfortable and cheap. I had them heat molded twice and still it cuts off circulation.

Anyone have any idea's?

hmmm the il morros will usually do this the first couple of days skiing while u pack them in, but not the whole season, maybe try just buckling them looser or get bigger linners

well i have 26 shells and hopefully i have 26 liners, so i may be able to buy 26.5 liners.

if i buckle them looser they wanna slide out like a oiled up pornstar

maybe buckle them to where its just barely snug but not death tight ha ha, be ya bigger liner should be money

Stock answer that everyone is going to say: go see a good boot-fitter in your area.

From experience with Intuition liners and those boots, I would say that it is most likely pressing down on top of your instep (the boney portion of your foot above your arch).  Most customers that are coming out of a boot that is too big for their foot will have a tendency to crank down the buckle over this part of their foot because that was the only way that they could get control out of their previous boots.  Start out your day with that buckle looser than you would typically have it and see if that helps to remedy the problem.

The best way to create a pocket for your instep with an Intuition liner for your instep is to "pre-pad" your foot in problem areas while heat-molding.  Using 1/8" to 1/4" of firm foam, build up the areas on your foot that are getting too much pressure from the liner.  Doing this while heat-molding the boots will compact the liner a bit more in those problem areas and might help to releave the pressure that is cutting off circulation.

All that said.  Go see someone that actually knows boot-fitting, not just some guy/girl that likes putting boots on people's feet.

Even though Dalbello prints "26.0" and "26.5" on the respective liners, they are in fact the same liner.

Thanks. I'll most likley take them to a better fitter and see what the deal is. And your right, the boney part of me foot is where it seems to slide.

I also broke my ankles a while back, I'm still trying to think if that may have something to do with it....

Another thing that can help with instep pressure and ID liners, is to mold them without a footbed in the liner. It will give you a bit more space, and once cooled, the liner will have formed to your foot bottom.

Hate using this for an answer, but you should definitely see a boot fitter. Feet / boots are just one of the things that you really cant get help with from just anyone (especially over a forum). From what I know about poor circulation in ski boots, I would imagine you have a high instep or a higher volume foot. Dalbello tends to make boots tailored to a lower instep, and since many of the veins in your foot are located around this area, the pressure will reduce blood flow which I imagine is what is causing the problems.

A bootfitter may be able to heat up the boot shell and punch out a little more room in that area for you. There's only one way you can know for sure though.

oh thank goodnes someone made a thread like this, ive had this problem all last season. i have a really high arch, and decently wide foot, and my dad has some disease that make your viens clamp down when its cold (i think its called rhinoids, or sumthin like that) and i just figured i had it since my feet were allways cold plus i live in alaska so its wicked cold anyways.

so i wear a size 8.5 shoe and am wearing 25.5 boots and my foot allways get sooo cold its painfull, i have to undo the boot when i ride the lift, but the the whole heat fitting thing sounds like a great idea, besides loosening the buckle wich ive tried is there anything else i could do to keep the boots? is there a boot brand that is more for high arches and wide feet? is there some orthotic or anything i could do to make it better? im desperate.

my spk's run wide, i also have high arches.. i just went and bought some insoles desgned for people with wider arches and my feet have been problem free ever since

Im not sure. I went to some cobbler's place and they fitted my foot for insoles, it took about an hour and cost me $40 but it was sooooooo worth it

japanada and sactown def have the right idea. thatll give you more space in the liner to allow blood flow.

if you find you have the crank down on the buckles to get the control you need, find out where you feel like you're slipping or wandering, and get a bootfitter to add padding there. normally as long as the cuff and ankle are secure and you arent swimming in the toebox, you'll get awesome control over the ski (assuming you actually know how to use leverage to turn the ski and dont just turn your foot)

the other thing i would do, depending on fit (and without seeing your feet and boots, i cant say for sure) is grind down the boot board the liner sits on. generally shaving out a millimeter or two there can make all the difference. the instep of a boot is a tricky area, you cant really make it much bigger, and it really comes down to good fit and not overcranked buckles

As already said this is probably due to to much pressure on the top of your foot since that is where the blood flows in and out. Probably between the hard bone knob to the little fleshy bump on the outside/top of the foot, depending on how your foot rolls.

To fix this you need to relieve that pressure, by altering the boot so your foot can sit more naturally, or just to give you more space. Sometimes its not just that the boot is too low of an instep but that the foot can not sit as it should.

The problem you are probably going to run into is that the 3 piece floating tong design makes it very hard to give you more room over the instep. You can not really stretch or grind that tong, or the areas right next to the tong. The other solution is to grind away at the boot board which is a big pain in the ass.

You can only get an intuition so thin, they are great, but you should not rely on them as a solve all.

if your boot fits correctly, then you should latch down the top buckles, and you should be able to buckle the bottom buckles with 1 finger. they shouldnt be tight, just secure. thats why you see lots of people with those two bottom buckles up

True.  In a properly fit/sized ski boot, you should have the toe buckles on a pretty loose tension, just enough to keep them closed.  If you are in the correct shell (length, width, height) you shouldn't be cranking them down super tight.  It will only cut off your circulation.

And thats the thing, i barley rachet the strap and buckle the buckles and its still cuts off and my feet get cold. i might try and grind out some of the footbed and boot before i do superfeet
