Brakeless BMX

I BMX and i run rear brakes, mainly cause i ride parks alot, who else thinks brakeless in a skatepark is a terrible idea?

i have 3 bmx's and they are all brakeless. it saves weight and adds a little steeze affect plus it makes it a little harder to pussy out of a feature.  if you want to try it just take your brake off and go ride for a day. if you dont like it slap it back on.

Yeah i know what you mean about flow, the people i ride with that are brakeless and are good rip like mad. I have tried it out before, i have been riding for so long with them that im sort of lost without them which sucks.

i took mine off a couple months ago and i love it so much more
and saved me some weight (gyros, cables, brakes, Lever)

i took mine off awhile and it definately feels like it flows better and it makes your bike look soo dope but i wouldnt recommend it to everyone

next time i get hit in a park by some douche without brakes i'm going to be pissed. i didn't even know it was something normally done.

i apologize if that comment is out of line, but a) brake sets hardly weigh anything, and b) you're riding a fucking bike. you should be able to stop it just for safety sake. c) it's especially retarded if it's done for a "steeze factor". no one cares. driving cars without brakes is steezy as hell, too.

all things above considered, if you can sufficiently control your bike w/o brakes (i'll believe it when i see it), go ahead. it just doesn't make any sense to me.

for some its not even a matter of taking them off, if you build your own bike gyros can be a bitch.  its just a hassle. 

there is defenitely a steeze factor, any of the decent bikers i know either ride no brakes or straight cable, no gyro.  i guess its a "gyros are for pussies" kinda thing. 

and to the kid that said he was gonna be "pissed off the next time he got hit in the park" ur dumb.  u don't own the parks.  it takes two people to be in a collision.  if ur an anywhere near decent skater or biker you would know that it's not that easy to get hit.  stop trying to sound tough, that pisses me off. 

mind you, this is all from a skaters perspective.

If you want to run brakeless, just try to never touch your brakes. when you are comfortable not using them, then take them off.

i like breaks cause at my skate parks there is always some douche that goes out in front of you when you are about to hit something (scooters) theres people that go brakeless around here but they do mostly street

i feel that brakes would be helpful in park, and not in street

so depends on what you ride more, and your own feelings. don't let other riders tell you what to do when you aren't comfortable with riding no brakes

brakeless is fun at the park, ridin in traffic is less fun. collisions at the skatepark usually happen when you never see the person until you're colliding, brakes can slow you down a smidgin but they usually wont prevent the collision fully. I def watch out more brakeless though. Chase Hawk is dooope

put ur foot on the top of the back tire so it wedges in between the frame and the tire

some of that stuff in there was so dope. the chase hawk segment was really impressive. taking brakes off bikes might make sense for all those guys, but i can't get over the retarded-ness of it as a fad for the regular skatepark biker.

that was coming from someone who normally skates a cramped park that for some unknown reason has bikes in it as well. because of the way the park is set up a lack of stopping ability creates instant collisions. as seen from above:

couple that with someone who rides without brakes just for those couple extra steeze points and you have a shitty skatepark experience.

and i wasn't trying to sound tough. i mean, you basically just repeated in the same fashion what i had said myself.

hmmm i ride a smaller park w/o brakes, and ive yet to be hiit, or hit someone...

Its called not snaking people and waiting your turn... its a lot better...

and if its such a big deal, why not go skate street?
oh wait... skateboards dont have brakes... they may hit a person

the brakes on bmx bikes are just v-brakes anyways which arent that great... if you honestly need brakes to ride a flat bike park or dirt jumps then dont worry about it. once you get good enough, youll notice how much better it is to ride without brakes. stop bitching and do whats good for you. another dumbass arguement.

i ride a lot of dirt jumps and sometimes i ride a little park wen my brother goes up and i see aton of ppl without brakes and i think they are sorta stupid but they seem to pull it off i dont have a problem with it unless i get hit by sum1 with out brakes

I really enjoy running brakeless. It's easier to break my bike down too, I don't have to worry about Gyro when I'm shipping it.
