Questions about Mini labtops

anybody here have one? I saw some at best buy they are only like 300 to 400. Are they fast enough on the internet? are they reliable? they look pretty cool they are only like 8 or 10 inches across

they are called netbooks, they are designed to bridge the gap between laptops and smartphones. most dont have a disc drive, very small harddrives, low ram. they are for web browsing and there to do a little typing, thats about it

Netbooks are very good at what they are designed to do.

I just got my dad a Lenovo s10, it has a nice hard drive (120gb or 160gb), an SD card slot, a 75% sized keyboard, a good little 1.6ghz dual-core processor, and I will be putting 2gb of ram in it.

Basically, you have a 1.6ghz dual core and 2 gb ram running XP... that will run anything reasonable, without a problem.  I am considering throwing windows 7 on it, but 2gb of ram is right on the edge for smooth operation, and the speedyness of win7 is because of its way of utilizing powerful hardware.

So, you should look at the s10, I love the design, you won't feel lame having it in public.

I have also heard good things about the MSI Wind.

I see.

My mom runs Vista, with Aero enabled (not like it is a big deal).
Her computer has a 2.2ghz c2d, 8500gt and 2gb ram, and honestly, it runs Vista sp1 pretty damn well.  I am sure it never has to dip into the pagefile too much.

i never wanted any type of laptop, but then i got an eee pc cause it was only $170.  i just wanted it so i could browse the internet in class or whatever.  i love it for that, but it doesnt do much else.  worth the money though

my dad got a acer mini thingy, the thing is retarded small and slow. But i guess if you tried to install Mac OS X Leopard/Snow Leopard on one of those it would be a bit faster.


I would buy one, install Mac OS X and then use it for Mail, Safari and iTunes/Spotify.
