NS icon upload is dumb, +k for help

ok, so i just made my new icon, its pretty cool, its 50x50, and i've got it saved on my computer
but when i go to upload it as my new icon, it just keeps showing up the same as my old icon. i have deleted my old icon entirely from my computer, there is no trace of it left. every single file i try to upload comes out as my old icon. help me jesus

Be patient - it can take a while for a new icon to show up.

If it's supposed to look like Eddie Van Halen's guitar, then you succeeded, yay! If not, sorry, I'm no help and an asshole for rubbing in the fact that your old icon is still there.
