I really don't understand what people have against argueing on the Internet. Does the medium of your argument affect its validity?

A good point on the Internet is a good point, so why not state it?

I think people are a little obsessed with showing others that they have a 'life' by skiing every waking hour. Unfortunately, I don't have the resources to do nothing but ski, so there are times where I am on the computer. And during those non-ski times, I don't think it makes me a loser to make a good point about something on the Internet.

I'd be skiing now, but I was yesterday, and I can't get anybody to give me a ride 2 days in a row, and the bus system blows goats, and I have school tomorrow, and work to do for that school. So I'll be doing that work and talking over NS, and if you don't like it, you can fuck off. There are at least afew people on here whose conversation is worthwhile.

And that quote was funny the first time....this being the 3424th time, it's getting just a LITTLE old.

Yeah, Matt's right. If you say arguing on the internet is stupid, then what about arguing in person. It often turns into a competition of who can shout louder and call the other person more names. Arguing in general is dumb. Debating, on the other hand, is often productive in one way or another, and interesting.

arguing/debating over the internet is perhaps one of the better places to argue. where else can you find thousands of people who have common knowlege and passion about something, and are willing to defend their opinons.

This post was started half in jest as I knew by posting it I would start an arguement...
But I think Harvey said it best..to make a 'good point' about something on the net, is not stupid at all. I think this site is a great skiing resource, and I have learned much about the sport and met many cool people on here.
My beef is that many people who have no 'good points' to make about any given subject decide to make one anyways simply because they can. I am frustrated with the amount of crap one must sift through to find any 'good points' on the internet, and any 12 year old can come across as an expert on any given subject, whether or not he is in reality.
So im not bashing those who use the internet when they actually have something to say, but those who simply argue about some useless issue, or make statements about something which they have no dealings with in reality.
