of any of you get a change to see them in concert, even if you dont like them, go. you will have to much fun and it will make you a coldplay fann

I really dislike people who go around saying Coldplay suck just to sound different...
Theyre a great band and have lots of very good songs. They appeal to a very wide audience and are very successful. Their music isnt crap, their lead singer has a good unique voice, and they are generally a good band.
Also, all music videos have directors, idiot.

Actually many bands do indeed have creative power behind their own music videos.  And many music videos are self produced.

Coldplay aren't shitty though, they just aren't very good either.

Actually I ment that they come up with the concept for the video and are involved in the creative process, as opposed to just having a director do whatever they want and slap their song on it.

Saw them once last year,
seeing them again in July, got 17th row floor seats!!!

and to all the people who hate, I'm cool with people saying 'I don't like them', but its when people say they suck.  People who say Coldplay sucks have 0 knowledge in music and probably listen to shit for music.  Coldplay is one of the best/ most popular band in the world, you don't suck for being that title....

I like some of coldyplays old stuff, Viva La Vida sucked dick though. just the original stuff like The Scientist, Shiver, Fix you, ones like that are good.

I COMPLETELY agree with chris. Coldplay is just another band. Nothing makes them special. Chris Martin has a decent voice, they dont have any amazing guitarists or bassist or drummers. Their new album sucked. I dont think they are amazing like you guys make them out to be.
Definitely like that Dave Matthews comparison. everyones a bro. They go to see a very well known musician, they down some natty ices in the parking lot, some will light up, lots of easy chicks. But have you heard the Dave Matthews verision of All Along the Watch Tower with Trey Anastasio, Dave Matthews Band, and John Popper? the guitar in that song is actually amazing... but i doubt anyone ever really notices that or knows about it.

the only english band that i like/liked is the Kooks
until they started to blow up... now everyone know them, and they lost their value. i will admit, bands that not a lot of people know about seem better to me than if everyone knew about them. but in all seriousness, they are all the same, those english bands. they arent bad, but they arent better than any others

Im not saying Coldplay are revolutionary or whatever, but that doesnt mean they suck. They are one of the better "popular" bands in recent memory.
Theyre not on the same level as Radiohead, but i dont think you can class them as a band people listen to because they think its cool. theyre not Animal Collective...


Its not like theyre my favorite band or anything, far from it... but i dont think its fair to say that they arent a good band, because they are.

I'll be the one to admit that Coldplay can make good music every now and then. "Don't Panic", for instance, is a great song. HOWEVER 90% of their music is nasty, monotonous, atonal, banal crap. Steve Martin needs to stop writing lyrics and being a pretentious asshole and naming his kid Apple nad get a real fucking job. it's not Coldplay that sucks, it's Steve "i can't sing or write worh a goddamn crap" Motherfucking Martin.

just because their music isn't crap doesn't mean its good. in the words of a buddy of mine, "Coldplay consists of a bunch of middle aged white guys who range from 'bad' to 'pretty bad' at their respective instruments"

they have some ok songs, but they are by no means fantastic. mediocre is the correct word to describe them. And nobody says coldplay sucks in order to sound different. that seems to be the general consensus
