Question/Comment for Traveling Circus / Line?

Hey real quick question,

First off, Traveling Circus is SICK!  Great videos.  First series of videos that I have watched all of them.  Kept me entertained.

I am a marketing major and wanted to ask a question or make a comment on them.  I know traveling circus is basically a LINE SKI series which brings me to ask, is it meant for marketing Line Skis or just like skiers having a good time?  In watching the video it also promotes other ski companies by having other skiers riding salomon/amplid/etc. skis that are easily seen.  I talked about it with my marketing professor and showed him the video before in class (yes a traveling circus video in class) and we discussed having different ski companies easily visible within a Line Video. 

So i guess there really is't a question I want answered but rather that I think that the traveling cirus edits are great and even with other ski companies / team riders in the videos it still promotes Line a lot.  Did anyone shoot down the idea of having other ski's in the video or anything?  I think even though other skiers/skis are still in the video Line is still the most valued ski company in the series.  Are there any downfalls to having other skis in it? 

I just wanted to get Lines opinion or the riders opinions and see what they have to say. 

I also argued with my marketing professor that it was good to have other skiers with other skis in the videos because in my eyes it shows that Line doesn't have to try and force themselves over other companies and they don't have to try and make it seem like they are the ONLY company unlike many others do.  My prof disagreed but he is old and annoying anyways.  They think they know everything but this time i know he was wrong.

Just imagine it, an advert that is 10 minutes long, that is brilliant, and everyone is stoked to see.

Not all marketing schemes are evil. We (Ski The East) support Andy and Will because we believe in what they're doing and it's something we're stoked to attach ourselves to.

T.C. is fun, not too serious, and the guys work their asses off to produce it. At the end of the day, that's all that matters when it comes to skiing and life.

what about the afterbang? naming their ski after a silly trend

anyways i love line skis, they do it so right, and they have pollard designing up the pow skis
all of their athletes have a kind of skiing is fun attitude, Russell, Pollard, Parry, Wesson, Strento
line is just a great influence on the industry.

from my prespective line does 2 things w/their T.C. vids: 1st and foremost, they promote skiing... they've been doing it from the start and as long as jlev is still running shit i think they'll keep on doing it. 2nd, while promoting skiing they're still a business and all businesses need sales, so they advertise their product of course. all marketing campaings are built up to gain share of mind from their consumers and potential market (us). whether they have other companies in their vids or not isn't really important, they are still effectively putting their message out there. proof of that is this thread.

TC is an extention of what Line tried to do years ago when they dropped all their pro sponsors except Pollard and Battersby and then started the royal army page where they decided to allow all kids riding line to be representatives of the company not pros.  Maybe the page on the site wasn't a huge hit, but it seemed to result in a bunch of no name young riders out there riding for line and being sponsored at every mountain.  Then years later you have TC which does feature big named pros, but its really just following the journey of two no name line skiers from Western NY to the land of pros out west.  Those kids have no money and just started getting recognized this year. 

So to answer the main question.  Hell yes its marketing, but it's honest and simple marketing and it is way smarter than all the other ski companies out there because it has an inclusive feel not exclusive!  Line has been the leader of ski marketing for over 10 years and thats why they have soooo many die hard riders.  You don't hear and kids talk about any other ski company in the same way as line.

for all of the reasons you guys said, line is really appealing to freeskiers and must be amazing for line as effective advertising. also, kind of unrelated but does anyone notice that a lot of the time at least one person in an episode will be riding blends through the park or anthems in the pow? i wonder if they show andy shredding pow on anthems on purpose, like to promote the versatility of their sksi because anthems are primarily a park ski, and blend isn't as geared towards park. just a thought, and keep it up, i love watching TC
