Why is shaving so hard now?

I've shaved for years without any problems. I do not have a shitload of facial hair, but enough to grow a decent half-beard. however, I am currently searching for jobs so I need to be completely clean shaven.

anyways I noticed a few months ago that shaving was getting more and more difficult. I started having to shave against the grain in order to get it close whatsoever. now I literally have to hack away at my face, and the result is it looks like I have a five oclock shadow made of cuts on my face.

I use bic disposables. I start going with the grain until I get it down to real short, but it seems absolutely necessary to go against it, otherwise I have a five oclock shadow.

why did things change, and, most importantly, anyone know how to fix this? I dont have enough cash for an electric at the moment, and my face feels like its on fire right now.

drop $20 on a nice blade. It'll last longer than bics and you'll feel much better.

Disposable razors just suck fat dick. Get a Gillette Mach whatever. They really work awesome and are like 20 bucks.

yo i shave everyday being in the navy and all, and my hair grows pretty quick and thick so listen to me and buy either a shick quattro or the best gilette they got. shick is a little cheaper. but anyway go to cvs and get the aloe shaving cream, either cvs brand or the actual brand, both work good and your face will be so smooth. and i like the new razors they got cause making your side burns straight are so easy when u flip the razor around. i go down first then agiainist the grain, know what i mean? and always use hot water. and rinse your face first with warm water and when you put the shaving cream in your hand, splash hot water on it first. then either showe after or rinse with hot water. i know i just got into mad detail but trust me, its all in the shaving cream. i go through about 4 tips every two weeks. once the razors lose thier blue strip, they no good. and the first time using the razor is always the worst, second day and on are way better.

don't use a bic, and don't go against the grain. that is what gives most people razor burn.
get a gillette fusion, make sure to use shaving cream. don't push the blade hard against your face, let the blades do the work.

maybe the reason it is "so hard now" (no homo) is because your facial hair is getting thicker as you get older

yeah man, that too, don't press too hard. i find myself doing this when i wake up late or just too tired to think. i feel like i'm a expert since i've shaved almost everyday for the last year. it feels so good to wake up on saturday and not shave

shaving sucks. i usually only shave when my girlfriend comes for a weekend or if the neck area gets itchy or i'm growing the dirty.

^^^^ my hair grows pretty quick too, I should shave everyday. But i am pretty lazy so i shave every other day. That means one day clean shaven and the next day with a beard. Shaving takes way too long and is a pia

i use a Mach 3 Turbo most of the time these days, it works pretty well but i'm thinking of getting a Fusion Power because it has a detailing blade. to get a good close shave, you need to soak your face with warm water (i soak a handtowel in hot water and then just hold that to my face) for about three minutes before putting on your shaving cream, and when you're done shaving, wash your face again with cold water (that will prevent the hair from growing back too quickly), and use a good aftershave.

hope that helps. stop using shitty blades and get yourself something that will actually do the job.

It makes sense. The hot water before you shave opens up your pores and lets you get a closer shave and then the cold water after shaving closes them.

I prefer the art of shaving products, or king of shave. I really suggest trying a shave oil instead of cream. So smooth, great lubrication , and the razor doesn't clog with foam.  I think that king of shave has the best oil, but the art of shaving has a great preshave oil to use with their cream (the best if you like cream)

Electric razors are shit. They don't give you a close shave at all. Listen to the military guy - get a quatro fusion  or mach 3 and good shaving cream.

we go up to camp shelby once every homeport for a few weeks for field training exercises. basically practice war. we sleep outside when we do sleep, get attacked my terrorist, no showers no cell phones no outside contact. you can get away two or three of not shaving my oh man when u finally do shave. WOW is all i have to say. just had cold water, nothing else. i figured an electric razor would do the trick, i was so wrong. missed so many spots and my neck was horrible. so i said fuck it, i'll go with cold water, borrowed my chiefs mirror and went in for the kill on the last day because we couldn't get on the bus without being clean shaven. by the time we left, most guys necks look like a mogul course and there is really nothing any of us could do about it. ftx sucks balls. 3 weeks of full gear. vest helmet and m16 at all times. and mississippi is hot as fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk. plus tear gas drills and terrorist attacks, no fucking sleep. you cant imagine what 6 hours on and 6 hours off is like in a fucking hole in the woods. its like veitnam shit. and you don't exactly get 6 hours of sleep. more like 4. and once you do get to your tent, its hot as balls and once your eyes close, you hear gunfire or GAS GAS GAS and all you can say is FUCK MY LIFE, for real.

thank god the bullets are blanks or i would of took one to the dome with my own m16.

there are good times out there though, just more bad times haha

why dont you just go to the store and buy a new fricken razor? do you not know these things get dull over time. like shit dude. fresh blades = good shave. im sure you dont need to be a rocket scientist to know this...

man just get one of the gillete razors  there cheaper in the long run (cheap too begin with to) and also do  a good job, also use shaving cream if you dont.

i was like 13 and it was my first time trying it, i wanted something different, grabbed a dull razor in the shower, no shaving cream or anything, shaved against the grain, not a close shave at all, didn't use moisturizer, and these painful red bumps appeared and then it was the itchiest most brutal thing for the next 2 weeks

I use a phillips norelco and that thing murders stuble.


I think it was around sixty... and electric  but totally worth it,

It does a good job if your in a hurry and you'r not gonna worry about it but I gotta agree wit the navy dude good  plain razors and a nice thing of shaving cream are the way to go if you want the closest shave ever.

Yeah warm rinse before another after w/soap and then cold.

dude i legit do all of this, and i also have to go against the grain to a clean shave. It fucking sucks cuz even then i have stubble left over in places, and i get razor burn and sometimes a cut to go with it. It fucking sucks, but my electric razor that i saved up for doesnt fucking work either its annoying as shit

i use bic disposables. i have a decent amount of facial hair. i dont really seem to have a problem. it doesnt make me baby's bottom smooth, but it cleans up the face.
just try shaving really small areas at a time and rinsing the blade so theres no extra hair on it, fucking with your facial shape-up. then if its still a little 5 o'clock shadow-y, shave again against the grain, and there wont be as much hair to pull on when you shave up

not really sure if this is effective but I alternate between going with the grain and against it everytime I shave, makes the facial hair more dense and grow out instead of down and shitty.
