Skiing this Summer

I searched but most the threads were older or had mixed information.

My friend and I are looking to go skiing this summer. We are planning on driving to Mt. Hood, or Whistler or something from California.

I have heard that the public park at Whistler is kind of shitty. I am a beginner park skier, but my friend was sponsored by head when he was in Sweden last year, so he needs some good stuff, big jumps etc.
Our number one choice would be somewhere around Whistler because it seems that it has more nightlife. Is it somehow possible to use the COC or Momentum park, like a day ticket or something, because we want to avoid throwing down for the whole camp.


I have heard that the park at Mt. Hood is pretty good in the summer. Is there any night life up there? Doesn't necessarily have to be, we'll probably be pretty tired after skiing all day and we can chill etc.


So yes any information would be great. Maybe its possible to dig or do dishes or something for a week or two somewhere so we can use a private park. Any information about summer skiing would be greatly appreciated. Ticket prices, stuff to do etc.


Havn't really considered Argentina or anything because it seems to be a little to much with the flight plus everything else. But if someone knows how to get around there and ski for pretty cheap it may be an option.

hood = better nightlife (GOVY!!!), easier to poach camp parks, better public park, closer to cali

seems obvious to me, but whistler is super sick as well. definitely a big party scene there in the village.

I've heard that the Mt hood public park actually has better jumps than windells, and im not aware of any single day pass, but someone did mention that if you show up in the morning and help dig for windells that they will let you ride it  when you get done. ( can anyone fill in the details for the last part)

yes, they have a sick jump line. and, you can go and get a day pass like you would in the winter, or like you would at whistler. not very expensive either

haha, so I guess hood is the place to go. So they got some nightlife and stuff there? We only have our European ID's and they don't work at all the bars, clubs etc. Some cities etc. are stricter then others.

Whats the website for the Mt. Hood public park so I can get info on tickets etc. Is it this? http://www.skihood.com/

52 for a day ticket. 835 season pass. not affordable at all. there are ways to get around it though.

MT. HOOD DOES NOT HAVE A PUBLIC PARK ANYMORE

In fact the only have like 2 or 3 public trails. Well they also have a little backcountry thing you can hike though and maybe you could build a booter. And I was there last summer they take down their public park some time in May. So I guess you'll have to invest in a camp or just poach windell's parks.

Coc has a "pro" pass option where there is no coaching and you just pay for a park pass but its still a little steep being that it is coc. But it gets you into the park which is suppost to be great, I am going this summer session D so maybe I will see you there if you chose that option.

Sorry to jack thread, but has anyone ever gone to the MHSSC http://www.mthood.com/?

Could some one tell me if its worth it to go there late in the summer? Hows the coaching, park, sleeping arrangements, Ect.? thanks

Well powderhound.  I know Argentina is pretty far, but I Think the plane tickets are pretty cheep as of now.  If you can get your hands around $3500 you should be able live and ski in Arg for a month on your own, but if you want to make it easy on yourself check out what SASS can offer at: http://docs.google.com/a/garrett-russell.com/gview?a=v&attid=0.1&thid=120d42ef3099d470&mt=application%2Fpdf 

If your super tight for cash but really want to go Call the guy Travis or email him, ( his info is under Dates and Prices)  he may seem a little crazy intense buts thats because he is... and crazy funny too.  Good luck

I went there last late june/ early july and it was great, going again this summer

1) worth it. Mt hood had a siick public park (It is many edits), and MHSSC's park was very fun.  When you're done skiing you can go back to the campgrounds and tramp, session a halfpipe or a mini pipe, or other stuff. This might have change due to that they were sued at the end of last year, but still cool. Or, you can go into Govy, and go Huckleberries and get a milkshake. Later the camp provides activites that are also great, cliff jumping, White water rafting (costs 20 or 30 extra, I cant remember) etc... Also I f you stay for more than one week then they can take you to the coast go surfing for 2 days. So much fun!

2) Lodging is in rooms with bunkbeds, a bathroom and a bunch of smelly people. Luckily there is a shower in your room. For extra $ you can lodge in Govy. I dont know much about that, i didnt do it.

3)Coaching is good. Learned a good amount of stuff. The most well known coach is Sean Decker, who was in Level 1's Realtime and was in this year's Orage Masters.


4) Don't piss off Kevin Malone!!!!!!

All of this might of change because of a lawsuit last year

not to be a dick, but they defiantly have a sick public park all summer. they take down the park on the lower mountain when it melts down, then all operations including Public park move up to the mile, and palmer.

Come to the beartooth pass this summer in red lodge montana. They will have a park and its only like 35 bucks a ticket and its super cheep to stay in red lodge. there is also a bunch of big mountain skiing that you can hike and some sick summer back country.

Anyone know how the park will be set up this summer at Beartooth? Will it be good somewhere around July?
