steele and mercon got screwed in x

with 4 skier remaining (including tanner)in the second qualifying run, a friggin blizzard blew in. after a 20 minute hold, tanner tried running, but pulled up on the course and exchanged words with an official. at the bottom of the course he kicked his skis off and threw down his helmet and said 'its a joke! you can't see. its worthless, you can't get any speed' he'd already qualified for finals, so no one really cared.
the last two skiers, steele and mercon, who did not have solid first runs, were forced to ski their runs in blizzard conditions with 3-4 inches of fresh wind blown snow on the course and no visibility. neither qualified. they got screwed!
no one could ski a slopestyle course in those conditions and they should not have been forced to take their runs at that time. tanner threw a fit about it calling it unskiable, and you can bet if he hadn't yet qualified, they would have
postponed it. its so unfair - they basically took it away from them.
all other events on the mountain (moto x and boarder x) were postponed due to the weather. only slopestyle's two remaining competitors were forced to ski in it. something needs to be done about this. it was so unfair! maybe give each of those guys a wild card to next year's x!!!

No kidding - it was insane to have anyone ski the course in those conditions. I watched steele in practice and he was throwing switch 7's and 9's and unnatty 7's and 9's and killing the rails. He definitely would have qualified if the course were anywhere near skiable! sucks big time!!!

i agree. those dudes got totally played out. it is especially ridiculous that steele got either third of fourth in the finals last year and they basically shat on him yesterday.

that's pretty true. x-games isn't a true skiing competition, it's more like an exhibition. it's all about commercialism to them, they really could give a fuck about the skiiers.

I remember last year in skier x one of the racers knocked over someone else on purpose and the person who fell disputed the results and the results were changed. steele and mercon should have done the same thing

that wouldn't work because they got screwed in the qualifier, they never even made it to the finals. they can't redo the entire slopestyle final.

i think steele deserves mad props for showing so much class and being such a good sport after he'd just been eliminated from slopestyle qualifiers because espn wanted to keep the tv coverage on schedule, even though the weather was so wicked he couldn't see 10 feet in front of him.
a friend who was up in the booth with the judges told me they (the judges) watched the monitor and couldn't tell if steele landed anything or not, but said, 'i think i saw a spray of snow so he must not have landed'. how bad is that? there was a friggin 5' fresh windblown snow on the course. Of course there was a spray of snow!
anyway, the kid's got a lot of class! way to go steele and good luck next year!

yeah, better conditions they would preformed better, it find it weird they cancled some of the other events, but scambled for time and forced them to run, sketchy, but hey, shit happens
