Hey Luc,
we know who all the filmers and photographers are. That was not the problem during this year's JOSS. The problem was that the edits were of such insane quality.
This edit got the highest points from both the film judges (which were surfing film legend Levi Siver and me). We both had Norway in second place, from there our points were awarded differently.
Ski judges JF Cusson and Chris Turpin respectively ranked Canada and Norway (CF) and Norway and Canada (Chris) highest. Both of them had Team Down Under as their 3rd.
It takes an awful lot to win JOSS. That's the way it should be. There will be a million different opinions and that's also the way it should be. But I think that everybody should remember to give some mad props to Jon and what he has done to make this event happen and to develop this format. We, as an audience get this out of 13 days of filming, shooting and editing!? And we get it for free!! It's pretty wild.
Plus; recognize how much the comp has elevated from 2008 – and for being the first year it wasn't bad at all. What the feck will we see next year?
Best,
