Atomic punx

You don't really here of these much, so for those you that got em what think about em?  flex pattern, durability, how they feel/ride and everything about the ski you like to say.  yes i did search bar, but didn't find much. thanks guys.

Flex pattern = noodles with no rebound or life.
Durability = absolute shit. Not suitable for very big jumps, shitty base, stupid double edge marketing ploy.
Warranty= even worse than there durability. I broke mine the first day I had them, barely got them warrantied then a month later they were broken again and Atomic wouldnt even look at them. The lady on the phone's words were along the lines of "Not my problem"

1 day on them, casing a 20ish ft gap... I am 190 lbs, 5'11 BTW

I guess a plus would be the fact that they are super light. If you were a light weight park skier not hitting many jibs I would recommend them, but I refuse to support Atomic.

you should search bar. you'll see that probably 90% of the reviews are the exact opposite of the one above.

i love them. they lasted me a long time and the flex pattern is fucking incredible.

but seriously seach for more indepth reviews

this is what i'm wondering, what makes the flex pattern fucking incredible, i've found a a few reviews with like like average flex or short answers. but more detailed like stiff under foot and soft in tips and tails, opposite of that? are they torsionally stiff or soft? thats why i kind of created this thread.

and also deviants and twins, what are peoples thoughts on those, whats their flex like and how do they ride?

Casing a 20 ft jump should not brake a ski. Regardless, their warranty department sucks.

i would say the guy above me just got unlucky. i have heard a lot of great things. i rode the urban punx and there were really fun and light. i think punx would be a great ski. i have an old pair of atomics that held up like champs. i personally really like atomic

Ok caveman you have the URBAN PUNX not the regular punx which are NOT the same skis. The urban punx are noodles they are softer then the invaders. Now for the punx i love them i rode them all season, the flex pattern is perfect stiffer under foot softer in the tips and tails. I would describe the flex as almost the same as the anthem. Maybe alittle stiffer. These skis are definitely durable, after a full season they are still chambered have no edge cracks and all they have are some top sheet chipping.

They dont have the double edge thing that is the urban punx a completely differnt ski. Another great feature that the punxs have are that they are symmetrical which makes a huge difference when carving switch.

And as far as atomics warranty department was great to me. I dealt with them once. I had received a pair of skis from someone on here (knowing the condition) and i decided id take a chance and warrantee them well they did and they sent me 08-09 skis when i had sent in 07-08 skis.

Two skis broken within a 2 month period doesnt seem unlucky. Regardless of that the overall construction of the ski is a little shotty.... Lots of soft plastics, thin, soft base.

Even if you are right and I was unlucky twice in a row I was calling out Atomic because of their shitty warranty department. When I was on the phone with them and they were so unwilling to help I told the lady I would never buy Atomics again and spread the word as much as I could.

Sorry, posted before I saw what you had to say. Your right, urban punx will be softer but I highly doubt the overall construction is much different than that of the punx. The punx might have more carbon fiber or a different core. They both come with shitty warranties.

idk i had a great expericence with their warranty department. and you said somethign about the base being shitty i havent manged to get a core shot and i ride on rocks and shit (east coast.).

I got a core shot on each ski the first day on them. The base is way thinner than the bases on my pipe cleaners and on3ps and also softer.

i got a pair this year. a pair of urban punx. there great. they have lasted for me all year. i just got my first edge crack on saturday and thats after all year of riding them. now im not that hard on rails but thats the longest any edge has lasted for me. other than that the ski is pretty much perfect other than some  chipping which happens to almost all skis. i love them and will be supporting them next eyar again

the twins were my first pair of twintip   they're more of a all mountain ski and their very goodly priced   it was my first park ski so yeah it was great to start on but watch those switch landings

I've considered the 2010 atomic punx ski for next season. Does anybody here know their all mountain capability? And if they are a true symmetrical twin tip? And this is not for the urban punx, regular :D

the urban punx are no more. just the regular. and they are completly symmetrical. i beleive somewhere around a 98 under foot. could be wrong either way there a super fun sick ski. and mine have held up insanly amazing

i saw the catalog and it looks like the punx are essentially staying the same, but they're adding a ski called the patent which is somewhere in the 90's underfoot but i forgot exactly but still symetrical i believe.

next years punx are the same as this seasons, aka awesome.  according to the ski, theyre 1/2mm thinner in the tip and tail (this years were 113-82-113, next years are 112.5-82-112.5) but if theyre any different, its negligible.  atomic is very generous with their warranty issues, partly because they are such a large company, and partly because they are making serious moves in the freeskiing game.  either this caveman character really blew it with his warranty attempt, dealt through a shitty shop, or something, because atomics got a lot of great people working for them.  bummer either way though, thats certainly not the norm.

they rip all mountain, especially compared to most other park-specific symmetrical twins.  theyre not super soft like the urban punx, which, incidentally, are out of the line up for next season with a 95 waisted symmetrical ski replacing it, the patent, another suuuuuper fun ski.

you wont be disappointed.  plus if you break them, wait til the end of the season to get them warrantied...atomics 10/11 graphics are going to blow minds, especially the punx.  super dope.
