WHY DID MY SHOP SALE THREAD GET DELETED?!?!?!

i agree with both sides of this argument. I know you both have dropped it, but I really am not a fan of how mods just delete your stuff and you get no PM or anything as an explanation.

The reason an "inappropriate" post/thread gets made (for the most part, such as this) is because the member is unaware of breaking a rule/policy. Its just common respect to give a 10 second message to the user as to why their post/thread gets deleted.

Why don't you do it? I realize if it is something just stupid ex. someone drops a N bomb when they are drunk that it is not necessary. Asides from that, can you start helping  more? I know you are going to come back with "we have to delete so many things all the time..." Well your the mod, you signed up for it.

Well you don't need to. We specifically don't send PMs for most post deletions for 2 good reasons. First, we delete a ridiculous number of posts and it would add up to hours of extra work, and second, we could have an auto-message like we do for moved threads ("Your post  has been deleted") but all that would lead to is uppity teenage idiots who think they're somehow entitled bitching and moaning about how they're being persecuted because they didn't get to repost the link to "I'm On A Boat" for the 50th time in NSG. And dealing with that noise would take even more time. So no, you aren't going to get a PM explaining the deletion, and we're sorry that it's confusing going "wtf I thought I posted in there", but it's just something everyone's going to have to somehow cope with and get on with life. We all get our posts deleted from time to time, even me, hell even Doug, everyone.

Well for one thing we don't want everyone to post a "why did my post get deleted" thread because there would be hundreds upon hundreds of them, and honestly we're not going to remember every post we've deleted anyway. This one was an exception rather than the rule. Second I don't know if it is possible to send an anonymous PM under the current system... I will ask though.
