Removing Bindings?

Hey all

I had an argument with a friend today who thinks it's better for your skis if you remove the bindings during the off-season, am I right in telling him it doesn't really affect it?

I think that might fuck them up a little. You can still use them  but I think taking them out and putting them back in makes the bond weaker and your bindings might rip out. Maybe it doesn't matter but the ski tech who worked on my bindings said it was bad.

Sorry if it's a bit unclear, He believes that during the summer/when skis aren't being used it's better for the ski life if you remove the bindings.

I just want to know if I'm right in saying he's got it all wrong?

yeah the holes that were drilled when the skis were first mounted shouldn't be messed with more than like twice. If you drill a screw into a piece of wood, then take it out, then drill it in a second time, it's going to be much more weak.

binding are screwed and glued in. once theyre in dont mess with them.

Shops usually don't even remount in the same holes if you ask, unless you say you don't care what happens to your skis and won't hold them accountable.

I hear its better to loosen the springs (lower the DIN to the lowest it can go) during the off season.  But do not remove the bindings.

yeah I would definately not remove them ever unless you plan on remounting them. Turning the din down is a good idea though

and even then...my tech wouldnt remount em...he wouldnt want his signature on the work order.

This is correct...never take off a pair of bindings unless you intend to mount in a totally different position or a different binding and hole pattern all together. Though a shop has ways to reuse the holes if needed)
