I have a better question, does anyone actually make a true twin tip ski? I've been wondering that for a while.

I ski non-twins, I also have twins too (but haven't taken em out due to lack of bindings - waiting for them to come in). I think it just depends what the skis are being used for, sometimes twins are not the right ski.
As far as a true twin, I think Line had a ski that was completely symetrical, but I cannot remember for sure.

the original line 1260 was a true twintip. center mount, true symetrical geometry, etc.

I dont like twin tips were the front tip is pointy, but that back is rounded. I like it when each tip is equally as rounded and when the back tip is almost as high as the front...That shit looks sickkk.

my big mtn ski has now tip in tail. you don't really need a tip in the tail for big mtn, but I don't like that they aren't twin tip. I can't ski switch on them or I will work myself like I have while catching my tail. so yea it is nice to have a flaired up tail on big mtn skis, but it isn't a necesity

^ well i think it is with switch landings offf cliffs *which are nearly impossible as i found out today* but it can be done off small ones and its fun, *still havent landed yet tho* but even cooler are the ever so cool switch 180s off cliffs, oh so fun, and a lot harder then they look

i think that line skogens, motherships, 1260's, and mike nicks are the only skis with true twins. i know those have them, but there might be others.

bird 4life. that is true, this is why most big mtn skis do have a sorta flaird tail. it depends if they as a company make jib skis. my blizzards no flaired tail no jib ski. rossi k2 jib skis - flaired tail or even basicly tru twin tiep in the pistol.

oh and by the way I don't like my blizzards anymore. they aren't fat enough to handle all the snow that we have had in Utah in the past week. and there is more to come.
sorry I had to say it.

original yellow 10's are arnt they?
And i mean, Seth's are twins, i think the whole thing with twins for companies nowdays, (for powder skis) is so they get sold quicker, you no, if people see they are twins, then they'll think, hey, they 'must!' be cool they're twins.. you no, also you could take em to park, like in the credits of RFA...

yeah, all lines have equal tip/tail heights... but that doesn't make them *true* twins. a *true* twin would be exactly the same forward or backwards... that means center mount, and equal shovel and tail width as well as equal tip/tail heights, and the same flex in the tip as in the tail... basically a ski that skis exactly the same switch as it does regular. if i'm not mistaken, 1260's were like this in their first year of production, but not after.

ive always taken true twin meaning that the tips/tails/ were both even height, but that makes sense with the center mount too.

well...i guess everyone could define it a bit differently, but in snowboarding, a twintip snowboard has true symetrical geometry, not just same tip/tail heights. so thats what i was goin with. not many people would want that in a ski... unless you ski switch half the time.

I don't ski twins now, but I will hopefully next season. I have enough of a tail to land switch of off small jumps though

coyote i think ur going a lil overboard with that...i think any ski that has a rounded, raised up tail meant specifically for switch riding is a twin tip ski (hench not including those wierd Olin skis)

coyote is right. In snowboarding a true twin tip snowboard is exactly the same no matter which way you ride it. tip/tail height, width, flex, sidecut, stance, everything is equal. I was kind of curious if anyone made a ski like that although it would probably be crappy.

nah, i'm not going overboard... i call anything with a raised tail a twintip too. i was just responding to rshackleford's question if anyone makes a TRUE twin. he gets it.

scratches are true twins. 45mm high tips and tails. 1260's, moships, skogens, mike nicks, ghetto blasters, pollards maybe, all have 50mm tips and tails. das about it i guees. ohh and wasnt the first 1260 equal in all respects just like a snowboard?

I've got 03 Mad Trix and they aren't EXACTLY true twin tips. The big mountain tip is 4mm wider and 1mm higher.

i've got some volkl p60 slalom skis..they tear it up pretty good..i love 'em..
but if i were to get a big mountain ski..it'd probably be a twin tip too..it's just kinda cutting off possibilities if it's not a twin tip..
