Powder Skiing

What are the best pow skis, i am debating with my friend.  he says that twin tips are not good in powder.  I think he is an idiot.  cuz i know hellbents are amazing skiis and are twins.  list your favorite/the best pow ski.  thanks

there is no "best" pow ski. it depends on whoever is riding it.

but my favourite powder skis are the Line Prophet 100s. love em.
and as far as big mountain skis go, my favourites are K2 ObSethed

an arguement can be made that non-twin tips would be better. if you look at skis like the dynastar XXL Legend pro its tail is completely flat no rise at all because it makes the tail dive into the snow and the nose get better float. That being said twin tips with early rise / reverse camber / etc. have given themselves that same advantage.

I have 189 obsethed's. I skied them on a 13" pow day at Grand Targhee, and they killed it through everything. Only problem were my Marker Jesters, they kept prerealeasing cause the shop guy put them on the lowest possible DIN

sweetest skis I have skied in powder were my wrenegades. but I have not skied many other fat skis to compare. but the were fuckn awsome.

your friend is an idiot.

It's powder, weather the tail is turned up or not is irrelevant when floating through snow.

Armada JJ's and Moment Bibby Pro's are super sick pow skis that have rocker and can carve a groomer!

Hellbents and Pontoons are sick pow skis, but aren't as good on the groomers

other then that you got your stock pow skis... Dynastar Legends, Volkl Gotama, you know... this list could get very long so I'm going to end it before it gets out of hand...

Last one: Prior Doughboys. demoed them last year and they were some of the most responsive skis I have ever skied. If you got the money to put down for them, I'd highly recommend.

if a twin and a normal ski had the same demensions the normal ski would float slightly better. That being said i still would prefer to ski on the twin in powder because lets say i have to maneuver around with twins its alot harder to get the tails stuck in snot while with normal skis if you start sliding backwards the go in the snow and you get stuck

dude if your gonna dish out for the obsethed's you should pay more get dukes or barons. i know most people dont think it but jesters dont hold as well as dukes or barons do, jesters are made for all mountain twins that sometimes go in pow, not for a heavy duty ski like k2's your hucking. plus all four of markers AT binding collection is primarily plastic which some may say is cheaper quality than like my sth14's that are metal, but idk man i think dukes or barons will do the trick.

well sure... but what if he's not going to tour at all? what's the point of spending more for a touring ski if you're not going to tour. Last I checked there's no such thing as a powder binding.

and the dukes have the tendency to break from landing switch... if you're gonna be doing high impact switch landings the dukes (or barons) might not be a good idea.

Sorry it's about the best powder ski not the most butt ugly graphics ever put on a ski.
I have been riding the dps lotus 120's and I can't imagine these 138's not being the shits.
Just need toget back into a positive storm cycle here.

To be honest...

I find the 97 CM Snowblades the most effective tool for cutting through that gnarly pow on a killer day.

Anyone else try to disagree? I think not good sir.

well i was recommending the dukes and barons assuming that since he bought jesters he was using them for part AT and part shredding pow. Of course id recommend another binding if your not doing any touring.

having a flat tail (or better yet a swallow tail) causes the beck of the ski to dive into the snow causing the front to come up easier.
