When you see a kid in the park who's got some real steezy LOOKING style (like his outfit or w/e) but can't do much trick wise, does that annoy you? Kinda like posing a little?

If they're having fun and learning, who cares? if it bothers you that much, star focusing on yourself and not others.  We all ski, live with it.

Ehh you know, whats the point. I'd love to see someone go out in a lame coat from walmart and $20 snow pants with the bib, and lame ass goggles from dicks that are plastic, then totally shred the park. I mean this is coming from a girl who loves fashion, but really who gives a flying f*** about what you're wearing... isn't it all about what you're doing instead? i understand its a culture... but way to totally lose point that its about the SKIING above all.

what bothers me is kids who go into the park and ski down the whole thing in a wedge, screaming, holding the poles out in all different crazy directions and just getting in everyones way and not actually doing a single jump or rail.. lets bitch about that instead.

Well I have what i think is a pretty steezy outfit, and can't do shit in the park, but I got my stuff really cheap. It keeps me really warm and dry, as well. I'm not going to hate on someone just because they have a cool outfit but not "style to back it up". It used to kind of bother me, but hey, who cares? shows the outerwear companies' advertising works.

it really only bothers me when they talk shit like they're a pro, but then they suck.
but i can relate when it comes to biking, i hate seeing kids on $4000 fullies that can't even drop a 4 foot, i fucking hate it and it makes me pissed to know that the bike is never going to be ridden the way it was built to be ridden. especially if they didn't even pay for the bike, their parents did.

agree and disagree. cocky bitches suck. and i hate them.

but you cant hate a kid for being into riding and getting himself a Demo with Travis forks on the front with decked the fuck out wheelsets and what not regardless of whether or not his parents pay. first, he loves riding. second, hella money for the sport. the exact same situation works with skiing. just replace it with G-Suits and Hellbents.

hey im not great in the park and yeah i wear nice stuff and have good gear but thats because i worked for it and because i like the way it looks and works not because i want to look like im a pro skier or something and i don't hate on anyone because its stupid even if you are better you were just as bad at some point so show some respect help the kid maybe. i may look like a poser in some respects but i just love skiing and i do what i like and i like what i do, so just go out there and be YOU and show some respect to everyone even if theyre d-bags and dont give it back, be the bigger person

the problem is that most of them don't love riding. the bighit or a-line or rmx etc. sits in their garag all year and gets ridden maybe three times a summer for maybe 10 hours max. it's just a waste and it pains me to see that. sure it puts money into the sport, but really when you think about it's not giving back to the whole community to buy one bike from one company and do shit all with it.

and to Klazo:
i wasn't comparing biking to skiing, i was comparing my hatred of spoiled n00b riders to amo's feelings about crappy skiers decked out in awesome gear. just wanted to say what does get me riled.

the only time its ever bothered me was working at windells, i was rockin beat ass TMs , feltons beat up pants ,no gloves, out there everyday chargin , while this group of 4 kids 15 year old kids dressed fresh head to toe in $700 oakley suits, brand new armadas, SPKs and crowbars literally, would sit in the kiddy park, eat their lunch just talk and goof around once in a while try some disco spins on the 10 foot ride on box... then go in early to play playstation 3 back at camp

good lord that would piss me off too man. If i somehow ever got the chance to go to a summer ski camp i would do everything i possibly could to get as good as i could. with all those coaches there its like a jackpot of super duper skills there for your taking

Its not about looking cool or doing the best tricks, its about the attitude you have on the hills that matters to me. I met steeze people that turned out to be asshole and I met some that was in a 70's one piece and turned out to the nicest guy out there.
So just be nice to anyone...that follow the park rules. If they dont, be a dick to make sure they dont cause any harm to themself or anyone else.

i have a funny story about that...

so, theres this kid i know, and before i knew him he skied with a tight onsie and a bicycle helmet. he was also this little kid who looked like he was 10. it was so funny cause he would ski up looking like a n00b, then throw 7's and shit off stuff. it was awesome.

the way i look at this:
if they look steezey and are trying tricks but eating it, its cool
if they are steezey dressed and don't try anything and run through the park just going off jumps with arms flailing = gay.

just thought of something:
what if they look really steezy in all that baggy stuff or whatever's cool now, but they hardly ride park at all? i mean, what if they look like your average park rat but actually shred the rest of the mountain and aren't so great at park? i'm sure it happens, just wondering what everyone thinks of it.

i cant do too much in the park as of right now, i just got twins last season. but i've been skiing for 17 years so i can shred pretty well. does that mean i need to have shitty outerwear when im learning new stuff or just lapping the park with friends? no.

just because someone dresses steezy doesnt mean they have ti or are good at the sport. im sure youve seen kids who look steezy like walking around your city or somewhere, it doesnt necessarilylylyl meean their good at skiing or something

Yeah i defintely agree. I wear my "steezy looking" outerwear cause let's face it....it looks cool. I'm not the best at park, but not the worst either. No matter first tme park skier or seasoned pro, we are all constantly learning and just having fun skiing with friends and or focusing on progressing our own skiing. So i don't get bothered when people wear what they wanna wear because people are putting money back into the industry and wearing steezy clothes to kind of fit in and show that they are part of and supporting the freestyle community.

honestly, i thrive off them. whenever they do something, i think to myself "im a better skier than this guy, i could definitely do better", and then i go and do better.  they help me ski better by making me angrier.  so to answer your question, yes, i do get annoyed by them, but at the same time, theyre progressing my skiing a lot.

I suppose it all depends on whether you enjoy the fact that the freeski industry is growing or if you miss the old "core" feeling of early twin tips.

A few years ago if someone was wearing twins and looked steezy then they were almost always good, because the style trends hadn't spread past the ski towns. Now that NS is blowing up and comps like the Dew Tour and the X Games are on TV skiing is getting a lot of exposure and the industry is growing. Wearing a nice suit with nice twins is no longer like having a shiny medal strapped to your chest that says "I'm better". Looking good is one of the easiest things to achieve in skiing and as the industry grows more people are going to put money into how the look to not only emulate their favorite pros or the kids they saw spinning 9s in the park but also to enjoy the confidence boost that dressing well gives you.

But I guess to answer your original question I'd say that I get stoked for kids I see getting into the freeski industry. Growth is good especially when luxuries like skiing are going to be taking a hit in our current recession. We need all the growth we can get. The only things that annoy me are bad vibes. And people who truly don't belong in the park because of their skill level. But if I see a kid in a G Suit huck what is obviously one of their first 3s then I'm going to be cheering from the chair.

I rock all black. I consider it "my style" just because I do like black. Actually I look odd because everything I wear is black from the frame of my Wisdoms to my boots but, I have white skis. Still, I stray from the Park unless they have a barrel set up, which I like to tail touch.

i wear a sessions jacket with some matching spyder pants in blue, i have the steezelicious kind of look, but i dont rock hard in the park. i'm learning tricks, but this year i havent hit the park much. the hill where i have my season's pass has a park pass for 10$, but the park stuff is huge, and they dont have many jumps. i got to the small hill by my house, and they're park isnt really setup yet. in try to shred gnar in the park.

to me a ski suit is a flag to the kind of skier you are and it annoyes me when rich kids come in with the steezy suits and jump off the side of the jumps onto rails or just gaper it. its also a little disappointing when you see someone that looks steezy not do sumthing steezy but w/e they try rite. so long as they try to improve i couldnt give a shit

I pretty much rock all black stuff.  A nice  North Face jacket that will last a while and 30 buck pants.  I would consider myself medium at park, I can hit everything I just don't have a big bag of tricks (can't switch-up or spin out of rails, etc.).  I can however ride all mountain better than most people on the mountain, so the kids that are better than me at park have nothing in pow or on steeps.  But there isn't really anyone my age that goes out and does bigger/cooler/better stuff than me and my friends in pow/big mtn.  Sorry it seemed like a claim, I didn't mean for it to be that way.  I'm tired and I can't really think of anyway else to say it.

No offense but our sport? What sport? Skiing is so divided it's ridiculous. Fuck trying to be "Steezy" for the sake of putting money into "jib skiing" because it will only pollute with more useless trends. Money is not the solution. The roots of "newschool" skiing are being dug up and I honestly don't think they will ever be replanted properly. How can once measure someones skiing by what they can do in a snowpark which consists of shaped lumps of snow, polished metal and waxed plastic.

I rock a G-Suit, and am not that good in the park at all. I can do 360s, 540s, backflips and misties and a few more things onto an airbag, rails are hard, boxes are generally fine. But I REALLY want to get better, only I keep injuring myself!!
I love park skiing, I love watching it and filming it too. at the moment I have to cruise through the park jealous of everyone throwing down and hoping to put a good edit together at the end.

So I guess what I am saying is, most people who dress steezy are probably keen to get good even if they aren't already.
But I also agree that you shouldn't claim it if you can't do it.

I know what you mean because I fit the bill a little.  I am new to the park but look like I know what I'm doing.  My gf told me kids watching said "this kid looks good" before I even hit the jump.  I am not terrible. I can do 180's reg and sw and reg 3's but they don't feel real stylish yet.  I say if the kid has a good attitude let it slide.  If they look the part maybe they think it will help them achieve what they want to.  Personally I hate a lot of the new "style" b/c I think its impracticle with huge jackets unzipped and pants barely on but to each his own.  If the kids a dick then put him in his place but if he is trying to learn and just new to it, encourage him/her.

im OK at park but really when i wear my baggy jacket and tall beanie and crank up some 2pac i land everything so much cleaner...i dont really know why its just how it goes...but i still wear walmart pants and gloves because they are warm
