Changing DIN Settings

Does changing the din require a jig. No it doesnt i think the guy above is wrong, the only reason the shops do all that testing is to make sure its safe they dont get sued later on. Why would it void the warranty if someone like me who knows what they are doing knocks the din up two numbers, thats what the binding is supposed to do. So yea it doesnt void the warranty im positive, and even if you do change it yourself how is the company going to know that, its not like you are required to send in your mounting papers when you return a ski.

i got my bindings mounted at a shop in whistler, and they just asked what i wanted my DIN to be so i told them. none of that testing shit

i broke a pair of skis last year and got new ones throught he warranty and i had changed the DIN on them a lot. and i work in a ski shop and we have to set them to a certain safe setting from a chart so we can't be sued.

if you break your legs nad you have not changed the din then you can blame the shop...if you change your dins and breeak your legs its 100% your fault, let the shop do it

ya, get a shop to do it. do shops keep track of every time they mount and what DIN they set it at? cause if not, then just do it and say they set it at that

i change my din all the time. if i ski deep pow i put them higher so i dont lose my skis and if im skiing park i lower it. i learned my lesson at jay peak. it took me 2 hours to find my ski.

i work in a shop and wen i sell a pair of skiis i ask the customer (if they experienced) wot din they usually ski....if they beginers i look on my weight/hight/skier ability chart.....if ur din is too low den tighten it, dont muk bout goin to shops...just dont do it too tight, ie 10 if u r old and decrepid...take charge of ur actions!

Whenever you test a binding the binding has to meet the required range of newton meters of tork based on the skiers skier type. If the bindings passes right where they are supposed to, then they would also pass at a differnt skier type. If your doing shit like hitting big jumps or you are racing, then you will probably have to set your bindings tighter. Binding manufacturers know that certain skiers set their bindings tighter and that is why they make bindings where the din settings go up to 18. If you end up breaking your leg while your bindings are set at 15 then there is obviously no way that you will be able to sue anyone. And as far as the binding itself breaking, most bindings are backed by a 5 year warranty, it shouldnt matter what the din setting is, they binding should not break. Just be careful when readjusting your bindings because niether the manufacturer, nor the shop where they were mounted will back you up.

you should have them tested at a shop. Once the shop makes sure that your bindings are actually correct, then tighten them down a little if they keep on pre-releasing.
