Surgery Question

So its come to a time in mi vida that my shoulder just goes in and out of its socket, shame I am only 18. Pretty much no ligaments holding it in. Doesn't hurt much any more but if i lift anything more than 20 pounds it gives and pops out. Also my AC joint (collar bone) dislocates every time I lift my left arm (Same side as the shoulder) I was wondering if anyone on here has this, particularly the AC joint one. And if surgery really helped and made it much stronger?

dude 18?? thats horrible man sorry.. my dad's got super shitty shoulders too, and hes a doctor, ill try and talk to him and get back to you bro

that sounds pretty dam nasty to be honest... pops out when you lift your arm? shit man. i gotta think surgery can't make it any worse really... that sounds terrible man, +++vibes

i know a kid who seperated his shoulder and its basically like messed up for good, but i mean no where near as bad as this

Thanks man... I have talked to physical therapists and the leading shoulder/joint clinic in Colorado, they work with a ton of athletes etc... I just don't know if being out 6-8 months is worth it? Ya know.

things like that really suck, i hear that they never feel the same again even after surgery.
but my best advice would be to talk to your doc and see what he says, then you know, second opinion here and there and pick your best alternatives. who knows, maybe surgery doesnt even need to be an option, maybe you could jsut do some physio(sp?) and be back in action.

but yea, ask a real doctor

i had a friend who was in a similar situation. dislocating shoulder all the time. he had surgery about 18 and it really didnt even help much. i think it still would pop in and out all the time. he had surgery again (now about 20) and i think its much better.

I just asked my dad (hes a doc) and apparently the surgery is brutal.

10/10 for everyone thanks for the help. Yeah I guess I will have it, not looking forward to recovery and physical thearapy... but at least i'll be able to to use my left arm haha.

dude you need the surgery. My friend was in the same condition from a dirt biking accident they did the surgery and it was a hard recovery but a year latter he was able to pass his physical for Westpoint military academy. I'd say its definitely worth it, you can't go through your whole life like that.

i say go for it, my dad seperated his shoulder and severed the ligaments, they had to harvest them from his knee but now his arm works just fine, i may be a little hazy on the details, if you have an questions you can pm me and ill ask him for you if you want.
