How do you hike/walk/climb with skis?

So I along with everyone else im sure gets tired of hiking up hills or walking to the hotel from the hill carrying skis. I was wondering if anybody had any innovative ideas as to how to strap skis to a backpack or something like that. I have a burton backpack with two horizontal straps and i tried strapping them in vertical but it was a very very loose fit so it swung a lot and kept hitting me in the back of the legs. Any suggestions?

put them over your shoulder.

if you're just carrying them in your hands then you're failing.
its all about the toe piece and back behind your shoulder, front of ski up front, put your hand on the tips

sure you can throw them over your shoulder but your arm/shoulder still gets tired quickly and you then only have one hand. and i definitely dont have that kind of money to throw at AT gear and skins.

well the backpack's most likely for snow/skateboards. throw the skis over your shoulder, and definitely use your toes to walk in the boots.

theres also another way to carry your skis and poles, a little complicated and pretty goofy but you can try it. so have your skis together. put one of your pole staps around the skis on one end, then do the same with the other on the other end. then put the end of one pole in the loop of the other, and same with the other pole. its hard to explain, not so hard to do, but it you swing em around to much it will fall apart. i cant find a picture, i know it was in a warren miller movie though

put your skis together, then put one of your pole loops over both the tips of your skis, then one pole loop over the tails of your skis, then put the baskets of your poles in the other loop on the opposite side and repeat with the other ski.
I hope that made sense, it works really well if you figure it out and its easy to do, its just hard to explain.

No poles grab on to your toe pieces one in each hand and drag them tales on the ground so you look fucken cool you know.

i have a frame pack that i keep my boots /jacket skis in i can balance my skis on top of it works like a charm :)

straps round wrist and use the heelpeice on the brake as a handle, then you can walk and drag, or use them like youd use poles while hiking, i only do this when hiking though, anything else and i over shoulder them

i wish more people would do that. its just the best way to carry skis without a backpack system or whatsoever

and DO NOT put

1. the tails infront of you

2. your shoulder BETWEEN the binding parts, those both just look silly

and comon, how heavy are skis? 4/5 kilos? anyone considering himself a "coreskier" should be able to carry a 5 kilo thingy all the way to the lift
