Building jumps in bounds

I know this is probably a dumb question (I did search and could not find anything on it).  If your resort is on government land and is under a lease permit, can they bust you for building jumps in the trees?  I know you cannot improve park features (because they are resort property, but can you "change" terrain off designated trails?  I would imagine it is okay because technically it is government property and it is perfectly legal to go and build jumps on any other government land.  So since my resort is on public land owned by the government, can they restrain me from changing terrain off of designated trails?

No matter what they can restrain you because building jumps outside of the park is a liability to them if some one gets hurt on it.

Okay, I had a feeling that would be the case.  Dammit.  Oh well, we had this sweet drop right under the lift, we were going to fix up the takeoff, ahhhh, it would have been amazing.  I guess we will have to find somewhere else that is more hidden and do it in there.  Thanks for your help.  +k

I've built a lot of jumps in bounds. The worst they're likely to do is tell you to tear it down (which happens very frequently in my experience). Your best bet is to build it in a hidden spot where patrol isn't likely to see it, and where you can control who hits it.

Stay up after the mountain has closed to build it and then get up there early in morning to session it. Thats what I usually do.

Truth, we built a small one but just put it in a spot where people would have to hike to get to it.  No ski patrol and it was a great little lip into some pow.

we did that but we had a night session so when one half of the mountain was open to nightskiing we traversed to where the jump was and hit it for a good hour but one kid busted out his camera and started shooting photos, ski patrol saw the flash came over pulled us aside but we just gave him bs names n shit and got our tickets pulled. but we made that jump during lift operation and one of my buddies had to hide a full length shovel half in his snowpants and half in his jacket, i still have the image of him trying to sit on the chair without the blade cutting off his head for ten minutes embedded in my brain.... fun stuff all in all, just do it-nike
