this is for those canadians that say they hate 'america' but love canada....canada is in america...does north america ring a bell? i dont have a problem with canada at all...i do live in the US if u couldnt tell...im just sick of canadians saying that they hate america

north american designates a larger group described by continent.

Europeans can be French, English, German, etc. North Americans can be Mexican, Canadian, American(as in United States of America). Its that simple.

this is dumb. canadians and americans are both english language dominated countries, and both have a pretty similar economy and political system. We both (for the most part) are exposed to the same mass media. I know there are differeces but compared to china and slovakia and stuff they're pretty canada and america are pretty similar, but candaians are canadians. americans are americans. this canadians are americans talk is dumb. candaians are similar to americans but not the same. you could have a canadian and an american that are very similar but as a whole canadians and americans aren't the same thing.

South Africa is a country. Anyone living in South Africa is South African, but can also be more generally described as African because South Africa is part of the continent of Africa.

NORTH AMERICA = CANADA, MEXICO, USA. (canadians, mexicans, americans) are all north americans, but are from there respective countries. so I, being from canada, am both a north american and a canadian.

AFRICA = South africa, ethiopia etc. (South africans, Ethiopians) Are all africans, but are from THERE Respective countries, someone from ethiopia is both an ethiopian and an african.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the WHOLE world hates you in general. Even your 'biggest ally' Great Britain's population has an extremely anti-US opinion.
I like a whole bunch of Americans. I have alot of REALLY good friends who are American and my girlfriend is American, but alot of times I meet people who just have that typical 'American' attitude that they are the best and no one else matters. I dunno how to explain it. Alot of Americans are just WIERD... Like who relaly carried a gun around? Not many other places in the world have as wierd of opinions as many Americans do. I mean, really, how can you thinkthat God is on your side and no one else's?
ugh, too much to vent about and I dont have all night...
I know there are alot of great people who are Americans, and I know there are alot of jackasses who are Canadians, but it just seems like maybe because of how much impact you guys have on the world, you should respect it more. I mean, there are no rules that apply to you anymore... You ignore the UN, take what you please, invade who you please... Can you imagine if any other country tried to do what you do on a monthly basis? You would insist that the UN act to preserve world peace and to stop terrorism.
Ok, I really have to stop now. I love many Americans, I really do. But sometimes the US pisses me off SOOO much!!!

#1 We call citizens of the United states of america americans because there is no other simpler better way of saying it.
#2-manifest destiny is the idea that USA will take over Mexico, and Canada, havin almost the complete continent. We beat the US trying to invade us, so we make fun of them by calling them 'americans'
#3-there have been countless surveys of americans who dont know shit about any other country in the world. They are so completely educationally isolated its not even funny, hence another reason why we call them 'americans'

Nine Milla i agree with a lot of shit you said but just because george w. advocates awful foreign policy doesn't mean that americans agree with it. i hate the way this administration is handling issues and turning the world against us. the 'war on terror,' for example, is just gonna produce more terrorism and anti-american sentiments. i hope americans are smarter than i think we are and choose not to re-elect bush, although i guess technically it isn't re-election since we never elected him in the first place. and down with the electoral college, it's not the 1700's anymore.
