What Grabs do judges like?

I'm going to be competing more often this year and i wanted to know if anyone knew what judges look for? specifically what grabs?

I'm not sure if judges like any grabs in particular. They might favor or grab but I don't think their allowed to count that when they score. One thing I think they count though is your variety of your grabs and stuff like that. Hoped that helped.

yeah thanks, i've just been curious as to what judges look for. I know the basics, left and right spins, inverts corks and multiple grabs and hitting switch but are there certain "criteria"? or something like that or just any sort of knowledge that will help me do better

hold the grab for as long as you can, tweak it out as much as possible, and just make it look super sick.

if i was a judge i would go for realll long octos and trucks ever time.

the fact is that every judge is different.
just mix it up.  and make sure you do everything with style.

my friend is a judge and he told me that the judges give more points for the longer you hold your grab and how easy it is to see the grab, so higher grabs and tweeks.

I have a question relating to this.
Do judges in smaller comps, give you a lower score if you ski w/o poles? cuz i can throw tricks down with more ease that way, but i dont want to get a bad score just because i dont rock poles.

some do give lower points for no poles, but some may like it and give you more points because of it, it's up to the judges, i would say most would dock points because as you said, it's easier for you to do that grab without poles

i like to belive that what i think looks cool is the same as the judges which is probably true...

hey i appreciate all the posts but i just want you all to know that i'm not trying to be told what to do or do what other people want, I ski because i love to i've never competed before and i just wanted some help to give me an upper hand I don't want you all to think i'm a super poser and such. peace

Most judges at events used to/still do judge freestyle events. What they look for are big spins with solid landings and grabs. Style isn't quite as important. Judges tend to like perfect 90 degree crosses so tails and mutes are always a safe bet.

tickle mute and/or tindy usually places well at x. don't even bother grabbing your ski in the right place the judges are oblivious to good style anyways
