because it really bugs me! I always just want to punch a kid in his face when i see him chucking his skis against a wall, dropping them on rocks, ect. and then the bitch when their gear breaks and mommy goes out and buys them all new shit. treat what you have with respect and not like shit

haha i see where your coming from i'm always super carefull with my shit but when i see people doing this most of the time i can't help but laugh at them its there loss but i hate when they say its built to take it that grinds my gears

kind of, it is there shit and they can do what they want. But it is usually the kids that dont pay for their own shit so they have no sense of that. If you pay for your own stuff you know how much you worked to get it and dont want it wrecked.

I would never treat my stuff like that, not even my urban skis

yeah i like to hit rocks. and throwing your gear is so fun. like when you don't land completely clean and take off your skis and throw them. and scream and blame it on your gear. thats the best part

however
I ski my stuff extremely hard and progress quickly
I also have more fun this way
Im fine with it if I see people charging their skis and then they get damaged
Thats whats skking is about and how you progress and have fun
But if people just treat their skis like shit for no reason that pisses me off

yea it pisses me off....

i was in vail last year early season and im goin thru the park and this random douche skis past me on bacons... and he is hittin rails and shit on center mounted bacons....
and he is laughing and everything and then he bails really hard on this DF rail and his edge got all fucked up and came out of the ski and he started laughin with all his friends...

i just got really reallly realy really rlealyl fucking mad. they were new bacons also..

if i am riding then i am really hard on my skis, i just ride them really hard. off the hill i am so gentle with them and i treat them with utmost respect. i have always laughed at kids who throw their and treat them like shit. the only time i have done anything like that was 2 weeks ago when i broke one of my skis off in a box and so i threw the one on my feet into the woods. i was absolutely livid, but after i calmed down a bit i went and made sure it knew that didnt mean it.

Yes, it pissed the fuck out of me.
There is a difference between riding really hard, and treating your gear like shit.  You can still ride hard as fuck and treat your stuff nicely. 
Examples:
Rolling up your pants when you want through a muddy parking lot that way your pants don't get destroyed because you were careless.  Especially if you buy $200+ pants, why not jsut roll them up, I mean how fucking hard is that?  Not hard at all, and it will save you $$ in the long run.

And shit like dragging your skis/board over concrete because you think it looks cool.....no it doesn't look cool you fucking retard, it looks like you are a douche bag who can't even take care of some skis or a board.

I'm super careful with my stuff but I never let that hold me back from hitting something or whatever.  I've never thought to myself "damn I really wanna ski that line but my skis might get a topsheet scratch, oh nooo".

i treat my gear like shit and it makes me feel good, when i'm done using them after 2 or 3 seasons i really feel like ive gotten all the use out of them that i can and that makes me a happy camper.

you should not hit it as much.




but in all honesty I treat my ski gear like shit. I drag it all over the place. Throw it from the car to the parking lot. toss it around. and generally don't care.
camera gear on the other hand...

werd, thats really the only shit that actually becomes less usable with damage, skis can still go off jumps and grind rails if its missing most of its top sheet, or if it has gashes in the base

I see, so at the end of the life of your gear you say "wow I must be a sick skier, look how trashed my gear is".

What if you could pull another season out of it if you treated it a little better.  Imagine the extra money you'd have for other stuff.

haha i have the best story for this. I was in jackson last year over christmas, and when i was walking back to the condo, i see these two punk ass kids who were maybe 11 years old WALKING up one of those concrete wheelchair ramps with their skis on, completely shuffling their feet. These skis were pretty nice twintips too. So this woman was walking by and was like "what the hell are you kids doing, you are going to ruin those skis." the kids just look at her stupidly and said, i quote "Its ok, we got these a few months ago, our parents will just buy us some new ones." i was so pissed you have no idea.

i like getting new skis every 3 years anyways, thats another thing that makes me happy.

theres really no reason to baby skis unless their powder or race skis, park skis get this shit kicked out of them anyways.  I don't like to call the wambulance everytime i hit a rock, or a rail for that matter.

Fair enough.
I baby my stuff while I'm not using it, when I'm using it I just never excessively cause damage.  I can't afford broken stuff haha.  I was just always taught to take good care of my stuff.


I'll remember this thread when people are selling stuff hahahaha.

most skis don't last me more than a month. so why baby them if your just gonna rip an edge out in a few day?

it pisses me off that people care so much about their skis.

this one chick i know won't even put her skis on a roof rack and shes fucking sponsored by armada and gets them for free... like what the fuck is wrong with you people???

i dont like it either, not rolling cuffs is probably the worst, because thats something you can really prevent,  I just hate the feeling of walking on your clothing.
Otherwise, light throwing of park skis I dont mind, since most of the time those skis are already falling apart...

A month.....I dunno what you do to your skis.
I prefer to have mine in a car/truck rather than on top but really it's not a big deal, they are skis, meant to be in the cold wet freezing weather.

In the end everything bad that happens to your skis costs money, and the more I save the better.

it doesnt really bother me, i just laugh at them for their stupidity. its ok if you are skiing on rocks as a jib or something, or if you are on beater skis, but i find it ridiculous when i see guys on brand new skis sliding rock faces and throwing their shit on the pavement. i treat my gear pretty well, but im not overly meticulous about it. i just try to make it last as long as possible, within reason.

the one thing i never got was why boarders drag their board along the pavement by the binding. it makes the most horrible sound and i cant imagine how quickly it destroys the edge.

I tend to ski hard and non-stop. I try not to think about fucking my skis up but I accept that shit happens. Progression is more important than keeping your shit fresh.

But when I'm not skiing I treat my shit really well. I always roll up my pants, wipe down my skis, I even rub some wax on the edges before I put my skis on my rack. I still sometimes break shit, but I bought my skis to use them and have fun with them, to me having fun is skiing my hardest all day, falling and fucking up equipment comes with that. It's inevitable

i think people who buy their own gear or have common sense don't try to damage there gear.

i tend to try and steer clear of the kids that do, it just seems stupid and reckless, i don't really care tho, more money for the pro shops.
