What ski length?

I am going to buy some 2008 rossignol scratch brigade bc skis and was wondering what length I should go for? I want to be able to ski mostly powder and a little park but don't want to lean too much in one direction, I weigh 145-150 and am 6'0" tall and would say i am intermediate-advanced skill level. This is what it says on the website.

 60% Backcountry, 40% Jib, Recommended size by weight- 140-170 lbs (171cm), 160-180 lbs (178cm), 170 lbs+ (185cm)

So, judging by that I should get 171's but won't they be a little small for someone 6 feet tall? Thanks in advance.

I'm 6ft, 165lbs and i'd definitely get the 178's if i was gonna use them 'mainly in the pow'

yaa isnt 171 a little short for sum1 who is 6ft? ik it goes by wieght but height matters too.

are you an agressive skier?
are you an advanced skier?
how old are you/do you think you will be filling in more/gaining weight in the near future?
how strong are you? weak/average/above average

and then it can all come down to personal preference.

since you want these for powder it would be good to go for a bigger ski, and it is a pretty light ski so you dont have to worry too much about weight.

if i were you i would buy the 185, bigger skis let you charge so much harder. but i would definately not get the 171, at least the 178 but imo 185 is the best

Ya, I'm an aggressive and advanced skier, i'm 19 but I have a fast as fuck metabolism so I don't really see myself gaining much weight for atleast a couple of years, I am pretty strong also but the longest I've ridden was 05 fujative 179's and they were pretty heavy so I don't really know. I guess I'll go with the 178's to be safe because that is like 30 pounds above the recommended weight so I should still be good in powder I would assume, any other opinions/suggestions?

where do you plan to mount them? you said you want to use them a little in the park, so i assume you will mount them fairly close to center? if so, at your size, you should get the 185s. if you're going to mount them at the traditional line, you could get away with 178s, but if your only 19, i assume you are going to progress and really like the extra ski the 185 has

I didn't really know where I was gonna mount them, I don't know much about the technical aspect of skiing but I read that -2 cm off true middle is good for powder and still being able to hit up the park?

definately go for the 185, that will be a good size for that mount

yeah, depending on how much/many park/groomers you are going to do, go 178 or 185

more pow/bc: 185
less pow/bc: 178

i would lean towards 185 though

If you consider yourself intermediate-advanced you should probably go with the 171s, as you weigh around 150. I take it you're not too aggressive, based on "intermediate-advanced" so the 171s would seem about right. You could also easily go with the next length up, if you're a fairly strong person you should be able to handle something a bit larger too.

Well, the thing is that I used to live in a shitty town with a ski hill that was 30 feet high and I went skiing all the time growing up so I am naturally pretty good. I just moved to kamloops though and wanted some new skis for sun peaks, I dunno what the conditions are like there but I heard they get a decent amount of powder? I could go down double black diamonds at lake louise/sunshine with ease but I don't know if anyone considers them challenging? I haven't ridden for a year and a half but I'm sure after a run at the hill I'll be good to go again. I haven't ridden much park except for a weekend at lake louise but I want to get into it so that is why I want to have the option.

ya, probably gonna go with the 178's just because I don't know how much snow sun peaks gets...
