Will the new rail tricks get respect in comps this year?
After seeing some crazy nollies by hornbeck and the stuff that Will Wesson and Andy Parry do if these guys were to do them in comps would they receive the scores they deserve? I don't think people really know how hard it is to pop nollies like hornbeck let alone nollie switch ups. I think the judges won't know what to think and score them lower then they should.
judges notice these new slides...at least last year when I threw some new slides in the big white rail jam in February they did cause I managed to take second
reminds me of that espn recap of the x games pipe. the announcer didnt know shit. he was calling stuff 560's and calling every grab with a cross an iron cross. lol i wish they hadnt taken it off their site
They will get respect once everyone starts doing them. Thanks to travelling circus which is going to keep popping up, kids are gonna be trying these new grinds. Then other people will see you do them and they'll try it too. I think this is the year all of those rail tricks will get accepted.
I completely agree. Just right now judges really don't care about the rail sections. Sure, if they were deciding between two competitors with the same jump lines, it would come down to rails, but other than that it really doesnt matter if you 270 on, 270 out on a down rail, or just go regular on, 270 out. Jumps are all that seem to matter right now in judges minds.
A knowledgeable judge that skis will most likely respect it, but as we all know most of the time this is not the case, I think snowboard Judges will give huge respect to presses because they are such a big part of their sport and almost no skiers before this year have really done them. So yes i believe they will get respect because they are new and different
No it's been my expeirence that snowboarders give me more props for trying presses then for tech rail tricks, but i do see where you're coming from where they would think that we wouldn't do them as well so i retract the statement and i would say it really depends on the judge
honestly i think its sad if guys like will and andy especailly show up to contests and dont get rewarded for the tricks they do. they are some of the most innovative skiers around and now it seems like all people care about is pretzels. dont get me wrong pretzels are still great tricks but you need to atleast respect what they are doing, and if you dont think its hard try a hippie killer
yea i've definetly noticed shit like this
i was at a comp and two guys got second and third for doing a front flip off of the side of the rail jumpp....
i mean that is bad ass but its a RAIL jam, at least tap that shit!
that seems to be how it is. a lot of people are still in the spin to win mindset. pretzels are quite popular, but ive found that theyre under appreciated too.
