So after seeing countless threads ragging on mccain and palin, i came up with a few things that obama is all about, maybe it will change some of ur minds on voting for him, maybe not? I just thought id share some of this with u. Try not to make any arguements, just read it and post ur opinions, and lemme know if it has changed ur mind at all

-voted no on notifying parents of minors who get out of state abortions. personally im against abortions all together, but if i had a daughter and she went and got an abortion and i wasnt notified about it, i would not be happy about that.

-supports affirmative action in colleges and governments quotas. IMO, affrimative action was great for minorities a while back, but cmon now, i really dont think its necessary to give them advantages anymore, whatever happened to us being all equal?

-says he will deal with street level drug dealing at a minimum wage affair.

-admitted to his use of marijuana and cocaine in both highschool and college

- his religious views seem very sketchy, and seems like hes hiding something (which most if not all politicians do hide certain things)

- says after being elected his first goal would be to meet with all muslim nations....why?

- opposes the patriot act

- voted to allow lawsuits against gun manufacturers

- supports universal healthcare

- voted yes on providing habeas corpus for Guantanamo prisoners

- supports granting drivers liscense to ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS!? is that serious?

- supports extending welfare to ILLGEAL IMMIGRANTS!? i dont want my hard earned money going to anyone trying to take advantage of our countries system

- voted yes on comprehensive immigration reform

- voted yes on allowing ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS to participate in social security

- opposed to any efforts to privatize social security and instead, supports incrasing the amount of tax paid into Soc. Sec. yes, he wants to increase taxes

- voted no on repealing the alternative minimum tax which now hits the middle income brackets, another tax increase

- wants to raise the capital gains tax, another tax increase

i just found alot of this interesting, and thought some of u might as well

Hahahaha... once again, about that education... did no one ever point out to you that it's logically impossible to prove something is false?

I was never buying all the people crying racism until lately... but the last week or so with all the "he's not like us" and "he's an illegal" and "he's a terrorist", "look at the colour of his skin" is barely beneath the surface. Fairly disgusting, and McCain is a much better man than his campaign would suggest.

I don't know why everyone is still freaking out. Obama is going to win, I give it 85-15 for Obama. McCain is just a weak candidate, I admire him as a person, but as a candidate he is weak. I agree that the recent fallback into Hillary Clinton style primary politics by the McCain campaign is an act of desperation.

promising change he cant deliver, no experience, good speaker, trying to win a country over in a rough time(makes it easier because people want to believe things that arent true), umm brainwashing the youth( if you deny this you are an idiot, you go out and ask 85% of 18-23 year olds why they are voting for obama and they wont really be able to tell you why) the list could go on.


freak out as in attack and call people names such as cunt which is very over used and well you should use that when calling someone a pussy because i dont agree with you doesnt make me a pussy.

haha so true... i have only met a few kids at college who dont absolutely love obama... and if you ask them why they either say something negative about McCain... like he is too old... or they just talk about how im racist for disagreeing with obama. some of this kids are retarded tho but some actually think they are super informed.

perhaps not to level of this election, but lets be real, its not obamas fault. think of the kennedy years and how many people went nuts over him. alot of kids loved him not cuz of his policies but because they thought it was the cool thing to do.

I meant voting for mommy and daddy's choice. Many students find themselves "enlightened" by the apparent fairness of leftist politics. Even I did at one point.

When actually taxes cause more harm than they do good. They create a huge amount of deadweight loss and disincentive. Many programs put in place to help the poor actually cause more harm indirectly.

I also think its funny how democrats always invoke the name of JFK. JFK was more of a Republican than he was a Democrat, he actually lowered marginal taxes (imagine that!), and created a surge in the economy.

woohoo! someone in this thread talking about real issues!

im a little undecided on universal healthcare. i mean it sounds great but youre right about whether it could actually work. i think its japan that has a really legit universal health care system that actually works out considering their government, the size of their country, etc. itd have to be tweaked quite a bit to work here.

as for the socialism thing, im gonna throw it out there that i have really liberal views except i tend to lean more economically conservative. i support basic socialist principles under the assumption that they could be instituted in an ideal situation. because this isnt the case, i support a free market. this all leads me to question how the hell the government can buy up almost a trillion dollars of assets without a huge mccarthyist outcry. that whole thing scares me a lot more than universal healthcare does.

and universal health care works, at least here in Canada, i can choose my doctor and i dont have to wait in massive lines to get into the e-room, even walk in clinics aren't very crowded, and as far as i know mri's and other things of that sort arent very crowded.

I honestly think McCain hates this business of lying, misleading and fearmongering that's been going on for the past week. He seems really deflated and disappointed by it all, and is grudgingly playing along because his campaign staff tells him it's the best way to narrow the gap in the polls. But he really needs to tell them to shut up and run this thing right, win or lose, because you do not put "country first" by dividing that country to win an election... and if he wins this election out of fear and hate, that's what the result will be: a bitterly divided US, much like the last 4-5 years.

I will definitely vote for mccain/palin because obama is such a cowardly, america hating communist. I mean, Palin is obviously the true patriot evidenced by her husbands seven year membership in the AIP. What screams out a true love of america like joining a group who's founder states ""The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government."
